View Full Version : SWF changes but the FLA hasn't

Hello,

We are running into a really bizarre problem. A few of our flash files seem to have different output depending on whether or not we open certain movieClips in the library before publishing. In one case the screen behaves as expected, while in the other cases certain movieClips flash on and off (and I guess are probably loaded and unloaded since any properties set on them are lost).

For example, I open our screen in the Flash IDE and publish. When I run the game, movieClip Foo is flashing on and off.

I then go back to the IDE, double clip Foo to drill down to its innards, and publish again. I have done NOTHING except open the Foo movie clip. I have changed nothing (intentionally anyway). When I run the game, everything behaves as expected. Foo no longer flashes.

I can close the FLA and go through these steps again with the exact same results. Saving the FLA while the screen is functioning doesn’t seem to save whatever fixed the problem; next time I open and publish the screen, it will be broken again.

Has anyone ran into something like this before? And better yet, found a solution?

We are using Flash 8 (although I'm not sure if it is a Flash 8 specific error, so I've posted here).

Interesting, I've encountered a problem just like this. It drove me insane tring to figure out whats causing it. Seems to be a problem with flash. I never found out how to fix it though.
