hey fellas,

just wondering if there's a way to get text to "type by itself" without me having animating every 2 letters a frame on my own...any ideas??

You can use AS to jerk a mask over a few pixels every second or so with an onEnterFrame function and a setInterval timer. This will slowly reveal your text.

im only tryin to learn some basic shit and its already frusterating ... i cant seem to get what seems like it would be simple to work...a pain in the ass..

Be prepared to be very frustrated. Now you are at the basics and its difficult. Once you master the basics and go into more advanced coding, you will have to continuously look out for bugs and try to find workarounds. It gets really frustrating then.
