Hey, while I was just randomly thinking up of website templates again, I was thinking about the optimal resolution to make your websites compatible with. I know the convention on the web now is to make it viewable on a 1024*768 screen, but as screens grow larger and costs plummet, shouldn't it be time for a change?
As such, I'm gathering some stats, and so could you guys kindly help by posting your monitor resolution here, thanks! ;)

I guess it goes more towards who your audiences are... For example, if you are creating a game website that younger generation would enjoy, I guess it is safe to go with higher resolution... But if you are creatiing something for older generation, they computer might not be up to date, so it is safe to go low... That's my 2 cents...
My resolution... 1440x900 in MBP, 1680x1050 on XP...

Mmmm... A 20/22 inch screen, about the same as mine ;)
Anyone else?

There are many websitse providing such stats:
http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp
etc... which will give you a much broader base.

Hey, thanks for the stats, though they usually include a demographic that most likely will never visit my site anyway. But thanks anyway.

Well best wishes controlling who visits your site, and thus who has a good experience once there.
Kind of a strange approach? But again best wishes.

Actually the original intention was to build up the site more for widescreen monitors nowadays.
Well the w3counter globalstats seems to be a good place to start (which includes wide screen). 55,115,754 unique visits from 21,416 websites. I am sure your desired demographic is within that 55 million. Anyway carry on.
