Hi guys,
Can you tell me if there is any issue's or rule breaking on having a link in my footer to my files portfolio on flashden?

I don't think we have a specific rule for FlashDen stuff, but I don't see why not... Maybe Jesse or Strok might have different thoughts on that, but I personally think that's okay... ;)

The problem with allowing links to FlashDen content and stuff in your sigs is that eventually, we'll be seeing quite a fair bit of random spam to unrelated things. Oh well, every idea can't be perfect I guess... *sigh*

I thinks it's/or should be ok as long as it's your own profile your linking to but wanted to check first before i add it to my sig.

All I was saying was that people might bend the rules to take advantage of it for spam and advertisingpurposes that are completely unrelated to Flash.

ok as long as it's your own profile and we dev related.

I do my best to check out the links on somebody else's signature and remove anything inappropriate... Plus the recent update on no signature below 50 posts should do the trick...

LOL More work to do for the moderators! Keep it up CyanBlue!

Most regular AS users will not take as some to be taking advantage of. With recent changes to some rules/functions within the forum i think we're good.

Just a side question: If there is something that the moderators consider bad in a link, will it be immediately removed or do we get a warning to give us time to rectify the mistake?

No they shoot on sight, no warning. (just kidding ;))

They not only shoot on site, they take out a mini nuke and obliterate the forums in the process!!!:p
We aim to please. I personally dont see a problem with links to profiles as long as its yours and own the content. Its the links to buy electronics and viagra that bother us

But what if a site contains content owned by you but maybe its a site that sells stuff like plugins or things like that?

Well... I saw a guy who post a link to his page inside the thread which contains pornographic element in it... I deleted the thread and banned him for 10 days... I did not give him a warning cuz it is a common sense to not post such content unless this is xxx related forum which obviously is not... If I see him doing it again, I am going to permanently ban him... I am sure this sorta answers some of your question...
What CyanBlue is getting at is be smart about it. There is nothing wrong with promoting yourself or your projects in your signature, but use common sense.

No, as in more subtle stuff, like maybe selling website templates, or plugins for like CS4 stuff and things like that. They are literally just ads, but they aren't insulting, explicit or other generally "bad" stuff, because I once saw one guy do that (forgot who he was and don't see him as active anymore).
People that want to promote a product, template, etc should always talk to Jesse first, we have ways of doing that on a large scale through out the site.

I guess it goes in two folds... If you, as an individual, created a template or whatever else you'd like to sell, just let us know like Paul Ferrie did and then we'll tell you if it is okay or not... But if a company wants to promote their product anywhere inside the AS.org, you'd need to talk to Jesse about it before you do so...

So that's why I can't have a signature... this is my 29th post... :p Oh well that stinks.

I see you spotted it too :p
This shows, you don't need a sig to spam
Paul Ferrie

You have to remember though with some spammers they add al sorts to there sig and 9-10 times they are banned rather than deleted from the forum. This means there sig is still visible in the members view.

Why aren't they deleted then?
Paul Ferrie
04-14-2009, 11:50 AM
They may well be deleted. I am a moderator over at www.flashmove.com and www.sephiroth.it Usually i check there profile and deleted anything inappropriate then ban them indefinitely. Though i have seen on other forums that the sigs still display what every they where spamming to begin with
