hello, I am training myself up in Flex/Actionscript in my spare time.
I already have over a years experience and consider myself at intermediate level.
I cant work out what project I should undertake next.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to is needed out there, or perhaps someone needs help on a project. I would do if for free.
Let me know.
Phil

Well, you could always try developing something that seems impossible, because to me, that is what will give you the experience you need to pursue future projects. Never be satisfied with the knowledge you currently have, so if you wanted, maybe you could try making a brand new UI (if you are into GUI design), creating a 3D shooter in Flash that actually works (if you are into games), or just fool around and experiment with stuff like me.
Or you could start taking commercial projects if you need the money to fill your tummy :p No seriously, you could always consider making websites and stuff with the knowledge you have and see how it goes.

well, to be very frank, you can start up with small projects, there are loads of them available in the market! i would love to pass on some to you if you areinterested, right now working on a uge project, if something comes up would definitely pass it on to you!

Personally, small projects isn't the best option. Because there is only so much you can learn in your spare time, and I don't think that as a casual hobbyist (myself included), a person will have the skill set required yet to go commercial. I suggest lingering around and getting really familiar with Flash and Flex first. You don't want to have a deadline in two days and then stare at your thread in the forums hoping for a answer soon to your queries.

I like small projects. They are my favoritest things to make.

Small projects are nice because you can actually complete them without slaving for nights on end fueled only by coffee. :p

Well, make a PlayStation emulator in AIR.
No, I'm not joking. I'd attempt that myself when I'm off some projects.

A challenge? EvRide (that's me if you're wondering) never backs down to silly, pointless, and impracticable challenges. It shall be done! 2 weeks sound good?

If you want to be the first ever emulator author to complete a fully working PSX emulator in 2 weeks, sure?
How about just some outputs, eh? Getting a hello world elf to display just "hello world" would be enough. It's just a proof-of-concept to prove that it can happen.
