Does anybody know how to even start doing someting like this?!?
What programs can be used to do animations like this!?!

Swift3d would be what they used to do the 3D part. We featured this site a while back, they're very good indeed.

hmm.. I didn't know it was possible to do that advanced cartoon animation with swift 3d...

it isn't

but you can do it with 3dsmax and convert it to swf with swift3d

Or Lightwave 7. I just bought the plugin. Opens up a whole new can of ideas! Steep in price though. $295. :(

Was that character not actionscripted b/c on the site it allows you to purchase the actionscript used for that guy .....

Was that character not actionscripted b/c on the site it allows you to purchase the actionscript used for that guy ..... It's only the part where you can hit him around and make him fall on the floor. All the other animations are 3DMAX.

any idea how he made that character respond to the speed of the mouse?

record the x postition every frame.
if this x is much bigger than the prev x, then it's moving faster.
of the x is a little bigger than the prec x, then its moving slowly.
