I have spent a while on a project that has a player go through different levels. Each scene is a different level. I managed to get scenes one and two working but no others will. To switch scenes I am using a button with: gotoAndStop(#)
Any suggestions?

Don't use scenes! Use nested movieclips!

I messed up and dropped my jump drive an hour away, but I hadn't thought of using individual movie clips for this, I will reformat my layout I guess, thank a ton for the help! But one, thing, what do you mean by nested? I'm guessing you meant make 5 movie clips with all parts of a level inside them. (for 5 levels) But I could be wrong.

nesting movieclips simply means putting one movieclip inside another! This gives a lot of flexibility and ease of use!
for example make a "game" movieclip, inside it on each frame put a "level" movieclip, inside that put the player and all the stuff that's needed!

You should tell them why as well.
Answer: Scenes resets your variables almost all the time, making them "undefined", and generally makes things go awry. Use scenes only for those AS-light projects that are more of a powerpoint-esque slideshow or animations.

Thanks a ton to everyone who answered. I actually didn't know you could carry variables from one scene to another at all, which was limiting for me so this will help a ton.
