View Full Version : [AS3] Flash Executable | Linking .swfs? Opening files on CD?

All,

I'm trying to create a media kit for my company. I've been exploring the possibility of linking multiple .swfs to the projector file (by which I mean a link would connect to another .swf rather than going to another frame) and also allowing files to download off the CD (for example, you click and image and the full size image opens in the user's default program for viewing .jpegs).

I've looked online and didn't find much of anything.

Can these be done? If so, can someone send me a tutorial?

Thanks,

You can do everything you want with Flash and some of the FREE tools I've developed but depending on the number of images you want to include it could be a lot of work.

Check out...

2desktop (http://www.northcode.com/misc/2desktop.zip) - for copying files from your CD to the users desktop

proxy (http://www.northcode.com/blog.php/2007/08/07/Conquering-FSCommand-EXEC-Part-1-Proxy) - for executing BAT files (without the ugly DOS box)

Alternatively there are commercial swf2exe tools that can make this job a lot more pleasant. I also make one of those tools called SWF Studio (http://www.northcode.com/swfstudio.php). There are few others you might also want to check out, but definitely do your homework before you pick one.

SWF Studio http://www.northcode.com (kinda boring web site, but awesome software with excellent support)
