Full Browser Image Pan?

Is it possible to have a swf file or image that is sized to proportionally fit within the browser window AND pan from side to side? I've found components for image panning as well as components for proportional full screen images; but i can't seem to marry the two concepts. I came pretty close, but when i tested it on a large monitor, the image failed to re-size to fit when the browser was at a very high resolution (you could see the bottom and edges of the image).

Any ideas?
