ssl and FMS

Ok,

I have a simple question that hopefully someone can answer.

Can a custom application on a Flash Media Interactive Server connect to a non flash web service over https?
I have a custom app on FMIS that needs to talk to a web service to authenticate over ssl.

Hope someone can answer this. I've seen a number of other people that have asked similar questions and never gotten a reply.
