Someone who I can contact if I have a question, or have a problem that I can't solve for the life of me.
A friend and I are undertaking a rather ambitious Platforming game project called Gravity. It's mainly a way to have fun, and for me to learn more about coding in AS3. The more I think about the concept, the more I realize that I'm gonna need some help beyond Google.
I'm fully confident that I can program MOST of the stuff needed, but I know that I'll come across some snags along the way that will cause major delays or could just end the project all together, which wouldn't be good.
So, what I'm looking for is someone who's easy to contact (checks email daily, has an MSN, or something), won't be inclined to turn me away say they're 'too busy atm,' and who won't be put-off by the fact that I'm not willing to pay.
What you will do: Well... not much. Basically, I'm doing all the code for the project, and you'll be the one I turn to for help if I can't figure something out. You can do some of the code work if you WANT to. Again, this is for fun, if you find coding/making flash games fun, like I do, then feel free to help out more than just answering questions. But this isn't a commercial project, and probably never will be.
Project Details: Title: Gravity; Genre: Platformer/rpg.
This is, by all definitions, a fan game. I love Metroid, and I love Yoshi. Both copyrighted by Nintendo. In the game's universe, Yoshi's and Koopas live on a separate world from the Mushroom Kingdom. They live in peace and harmony, coexisting perfectly. Then the Galactic Federation discovers the planet (GFeds are from Metroid). They begin capturing Yoshi's and Koopas and bringing them to research facilities they've setup on the planet (which were dubbed Ygutsai. weird name). There they began running 'horrid' tests and studies on them. You are one Yoshi who managed to escape from one of the Ygutsai, and now you are determined to rescue your captivated friend, and the rest of the Yoshi's and Koopas.
This first part of the game will be your infiltrating the Ygutsai you escaped from, finding the 'GRAVITY SUIT' (the main concept of the game), and using it's abilities to defeat the first 'boss' and free the first bunch of captives. The play style will be similar to that of Metroid, with areas broken up into rooms with multiple exits that you can get to when you have new abilities. This first area will be one of those places that you don't return to later in the game, like the Frigate Orpheon in Metroid Prime. This allows for good introduction to the game, and makes it easy to add on in the future, as I won't have to bother making the area fit in with the rest of the game.
here's a kind of animated demonstration of the concept: http://ijp90.deviantart.com/art/Yoshi-gravity-concept-demo-68461673
and here's some concept background written from the perspective of a more original version of the concept, character wise: http://ijp90.deviantart.com/art/Gravity-game-concept-127359352
