Saving files locally in Flash

Is there a way for my flash app to write files onto my local hard disk without passing through the server? I know i need server-side scripting to write files but my app's going to run on a computer with no internet. Is there a way? Please help!:confused:

we're having the same sort of conversation in a thread called "XML File Creating & Changing", maybe keep your eye on this one too... We'll see which one gets the right answers first... :)
Both of them are mentioning Shared Objects though...
