Most of those options aren't really viable options in my opinion.
You have to remember that the majority of people who use the internet still use 56k dial up modems, in which case (as farafiro pointed out) >60k is going to cause problems - and non of the above options are really that great.

What would you think would be a better option -
a hypothetical project with
20 images (no animation) around 10k each
Voice over tracks (20 MP3s) one for each image
subtitles- loaded from a text file (no real size)
What would you do?
This is a question floating around the office - and I think the argument is quality Vs size.

u can always load your assets dynamicly from out of the swf and use a nice preloader
