View Full Version : Allocate More Ram for Flash

I just purchased CS4 to run on my new 64 bit vista laptop. It has a 2.53 GHz Duo core processor and 4 gigs of ram, but it runs flash sluggishly, and while everything works, simple tasks like typing in script are frustratingly laggy. I read that it's possible in photoshop to allow the program access to more ram, and that PC's default access to 55% as opposed to 70% on macs. I was wondering if there is a similar feature in flash so that I could allow flash to use more ram and smooth things up.

Also, as a side note, before I "upgraded", I used flash CS3 on an older Dell desktop with 1G of ram, and never ran into problems like this.

CS4 isn't great software and vista is crap. You got 2 bad combinations there. Get the CS4 updates and that'll probably help a bit. Dunno about your question though...you can try what i posted here: http://actionscript.org/forums/showpost.php3?p=914621&postcount=2

I downloaded the updates and am now running flash version 10.0.2, but it didn't really help. That link seemed like it was about lag issues for export, which has actually been ok, but not for editting slowdowns. Thanks for the suggestions though. I tried calling Adobe earlier, but I ended up on hold for half an hour before someone took the phone.
