Making a Facebook Style News Feed

Hello,
can anyone point me in the right direction, for making a facebook style new feed?
I am trying to make a Feed that is updated with user comments!
could someone help me on this please? I just need the direction in which i should start googling!

It probably depends where your "comments' data is comming from and what format it's in.

I wonder if a RSS feed can do all of those wonderfully useful stuff as Facebook News Feed ??

in fact, i was wondering if it is a good idea to write all the user generated comments in a data bank, and write from data bank in the application, and keep on refreshing at a 30 second frequency??
