I need to write xml data to user's hard drive from a Flash EXE. I know that Flash can't do this. I have looked at SWFKit, Zinc, Jester etc and they all have functionality much greater than I need, and therefor more money than I want to spend ($300+)!

Are there any cheaper versions that can write text to file, around $50, that anybody knows about?

Thanks in advance.

Is AIR an option?

I have briefly looked at AIR but it would mean buying a whole lot of new software and learning how to do it!

Um... I thought that AIR is free???

You don't have to buy anything for AIR; the SDK is free, and so is the runtime. It does requier that you use AS3, though, and that users install an application rather than just running an EXE. But it means getting file system APIs (among others)

I will have a better look at AIR then as I thoguht I need to buy stuff for it. Having the user install is really not a problem.

Going back to my original question, does anbody know about any ZINC/Jester type software that is cheaper and would do it?

PS Very impressed with the quick responses!

No, I am not aware of a cheaper version of it...
