View Full Version : Scaling SWF To 200% - Alignment Problems Within Clip

Hello,
I've made an account at this forum to seek a solution to what I'm hoping is a relatively simple and straight-forward problem.

As of right now, I'm over a year into the creation of an animated video. I've come to realize that in order for the audience to have a good viewing experience, the video will need to be rendered at approximately double its current size (550x400 pixels.)

What I would like to know is if there is a switch somewhere, or, if such a switch can be created, to achieve this?

While looking in "Publish Settings", I've discovered that indeed such a switch exists (HTML > Dimensions > Match Movie / Pixels / Percent), but when toggled, tends to upset the cosmos - it seems that when I change any of the settings the video-size does change accordingly, but also distorts rather unacceptably. Here are two notable examples:

1.) When the setting "Pixels" is changed to 825x600 (150% of the video's original size, aspect-ratio maintained), many object alignments fail to match up properly - and my masks no longer work as they ought to; by that I mean to say, content is spilling out beyond the edges of the masks' established boundaries.

2.) When the setting "Percent" is changed to 75% (75% of the html document's current size), objects and symbols within the movie file do not scale uniformly and/or keep their proper alignment, and, masks fail to render.

Now, I'm aware that these "publish settings" are merely small modifications to an HTML document that the SWF file is viewed in, and that the original SWF file remains unaltered. Perhaps the proper course of action is to somehow tell the SWF file itself to render at 200% its intended size, so that it can be viewed as a stand-alone file in Adobe's default Flash-Player, and not from the inside of an HTML document. This is what I would like to accomplish - please, how shall I proceed?

Another thing I've noticed is that when viewing the rendered SWF file, right-clicking it and selecting "Zoom In", all of my masks break, and I can see beyond the edge of my stage. Can anyone explain why this happens, enlighten me to a work-around, or predict if it will continue to happen with an enlarged SWF as per my above request?

Any advice and all suggestions will be welcomed most gratefully, and thanks very much to you in advance for taking the time to read my posting.

Cheers,
