I've experimented in the past with ActionScript 3.0 projects in Linux, installing adobe's Flash Builder 3 Alpha 4 as a plug-in for Eclipse, doing all the necessary tricks and loop-holes in install it on a 64-bit distro. However, I accidentally installed it with the newest Eclipse, and apparently anything past 3.3 breaks the install (The AS3 editor worked fine, just not the mxml). It was too much of a hassle to fix, so I scrapped the whole thing.
I'm looking back into it a little bit, and it looks like Adobe has been having problems with the license, as it is only a trial, but there is no full license available.
If you use Linux and develop on a Windows machine for flash, but would like to see it running on Linux, please vote for the following bug.
http://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FB-19053
And with that all said, has anybody had any experience with any third-party AS3 editors in Linux? I've seen a few, but I'm not sure how useful they'd be.
Also, does anyone think there's any possibility in the future of an actual working Flex Builder for linux? It seems to be paradoxical; Adobe believes there isn't a big enough market for Linux, but most developers only stick with Windows because they NEED it for Adobe software.
