Hello

Can I ask please how difficult - or not so difficult - creating a banner similar to this would be in MX 2004, since I've never done one:

http://proofreading4students.com/flash/banner.html

The test that shoots across the banner (Flash, Photoshop, HTML), could they be images or are foreign language fonts available?

I would like to be able to do something similar, but using the following (they all mean 'proofreading') in different languages.

校对
التدقيق الاملائي
Вычитка
Korrekturlesen
Revisión de textos
διόρθωση κειμένων

Thanks for any advice.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Now I'm not too sure to what extent MX is outdated compared to CS4 (it's been a looong while since I used it) but I'm fairly certain it still supports usage of any font installed on your computer as text, with the option of embedding them so you won't have to substitute in case you open the flash file on another computer without those fonts installed. Which means if you have those language fonts, you can put them in ;D

I would assume that the text in the banner are from whatever font was used, it isn't necessary to convert them to images with Flash. You can type the text in whatever language font and be able to manipulate it straight away.

As to the difficulty of producing such a banner with similar animation, it's simply basic tweening with easing with some fancy grow and fade effects to give it that edge to it. So the difficulty would depend on your experience with Flash, if you've never attempted it, I recommend looking up tutorials and learning the 101 of tweening and easing.

Hope that helps!

Hello S1tHSL4y3r

Many thanks for your helpful reply!

I'll try out the Asian fonts which came with the Windows installations CD - I take it that they appear in Flash automatically - and then delve into some tweening tutorials as your suggest.

Cheers!

Steve

Not a problem mate. Yep, they should (at least they do in CS4). And as soon as you get the basics down, you'll find tweening becomes a very powerful and useful tool! You need any more help, just ask :)
