need design ideas

here's my site, but I've been told I need to have some design elements, so any ideas are welcomed (some say I need borders, et cetera). i guess my interpretation of utiilitarian is really rather minimalistic

Under the "about Q" section, I clicked on the Design White Papers button and it gave me a BSD (blue screen of death). I recovered from the error but then the music wouldnt play. I'm not sure if it just troubles with this computer or if there is some kind of bug in your scripting. I have been having troubles with this computer though, so you might want to see if other people are getting that problem.

Graphics look nice. I like that little Q on the start page. Its fun to play with.

hmm, yeah I don't know that there should be a problem. I've tested the print thing on a couple of pcs and one mac. I also use the same kind of printing for some recipes on the extras section.

Thank you for the feed back, I'll do a search on printing and see if there is some kind of error checking I can do. In the code I do check to make sure the "invisible" loaded swf paper is fully loaded before printing starts.

I've already started a redesign for any one else that can give me feedback.

I liked your site alot.

The Q thing was really cool and I could spend all day playing with that.

I really liked the way the portfolio layout was. and how you had set up the images.

One comment would be to perhaps everything just a fraction bigger.

Oh and where you have the link to print business cards, there is a number instead and the "print business cards" only shows up when you roll over it.

thank you bluegel for your kind words and evaluation of this site. yeah, the idea with the business card thing was to display my phone number but also have it be some kind of button. but you have a good point; it is sort of confusing

those tiny pixel fonts are small, perhaps to small. i'll have to see if I can find one jus a fraction bigger, which of course has a domino effect . . . but is probably warranted
