I think that out of the 10, 000 + members that only a handful actually spend anytime at the front/home of AS.org, apart from getting to the forums. lol :)
I think its prettys nice, but i'm on a dial up and the image change was real slow and jerky and stop the menu from popping up properly. But obviously most people are not on a 56k, so thats not even worth thinking about. I reckon its much better than the old site and spent quite a bit of time on there just playing.

not impressed :(
the old site had some really nice subtle flash touches (the old nav bar was excellent), this is just overkill. I found it slow even on broadband, I think i'll be avoiding the homepage when browsing from home on my modem. at least they've not messed with the support pages too much.

Tell me about it :(
I cannot have Broadband in my road, but i will move and get it !
In September i will have nice big fat juicy pipes to handle all the Flash eye candy.
Was it me or was the "piracy section" as prominent or as extensive on the old MM site ? Kinda made me laugh. They've obviously got problems (well we all know that).

UGH
on 56k modem too, that site sucks.
(*fingers crossed* BT connects my town to broadband in May, we've just reached the required number of interested people sign up for them to consider it. Phew, fed up of dial-up and only being able to connect for 2 hours at a time and for a limited number of hours a month. I miss being on AS.org and surfing the web all day if I wanted to, like I could at work before I got made redundant, bleargh.)
As catbert303 says, thankfully the support pages haven't been made so intensive to match.
im on a t1 at work and it is very slow.
the whole site is not done in flash, but a big chunck of it is... but they don't use one of the great features of flash
goto the downloads page (why does that take so long to load???), if you then select to log in, or select international, instead of having flash load in some new swfs, it actually goes to a new page and starts the whole download process again... yes, i know, it helps the search engines, but i think it would definitly speed things up.
also, try this, goto the international page select a language (but don't set it as default) you will then be taken to the home page, with all the labels nicely presented in the selected language, then select desdev from the menu. you switch back to english, and all the menu links on the top page are in english too, so when you goto one of the all flash pages, your back to the english version.
ok, i could go on... its a nice start, seems easier to read, and less cluttered, but some things still need to be worked on.

Slow and clunky for me as well.
I thought full screen alpha fades were only used by amateurs. Shows what I know.
In their defense it does say the new layout is a "Beta" version.

...............yeah and photography sites, when your going to be expecting a download time for the images.
I dont quite understand why they have such high quality images and big fades for a site that is used mostly for dowloads and functional purposes.

to their defense, i think their servers must be pretty stressed with the traffic coming to their site from everywhere.
the longer i was on the site the slower it got.
personally, i like this new look, its a bit more personal than the first and very efficient navigation.
(though i wish the tray navigation was on rollover and not on click)
if the speed however doesnt pick up MM is seriously in trouble.
my 2 cents :)

I also found it slow and chunky ... maybe after a week or so when everyone's done looking :) .

well, as everyone sees it slow - that include me of course - we better read this and some other articles in there
http://www.macromedia.com/devnet/mmwebsite/articles/info_arch.html
personaly I like the new look and all these new articles, tuts, links,..........
on work with LAN, it was cool but not so fast
but as I've read what you guys said here about the 65K modem, I tested it here at home with that but also I found it very reasonable (except for what TG said, "the downloads section"), for a site that contains all these kida data and it's in its first days, of course this shouldn't be from MM but I think it's accepted

just a small point, but in mozilla/netscape and opera on the navbar is centred on the screen, but on some pages the content below is positioned to the left, seems a little sloppy.
having complained much of the rest of the site, the new search stuff seems really good, a definite improvement on the old one :)

Ahhhhhhhh............ No more MM site for me.........
It takes forever to load up the page on 56k... and the computer is sluggish when the browser is opened with MM site... :(
Can't comment it more... I've closed the browser... Give me my HTML version back... :(

I really don't like what they've done to it.

Apparently it's not working well for many people. They've changed it to an HTML hybrid now. Check the article at http://www.actionscript.com/archives/00000478.html
