POM>> I think there will be maybe votes and contributers

OX>> I don't own this site, I'm just a member, and this is just to see if the YES wins so we might force Jesse and Stroke to accept that :D ;)

yeah this site is growing more high profile by the day, so i bet there would be ample ppl willing to do a redesign for actionscript.,org free of charge. its a fantastic site to have in your portfolio.

Hate to burst any bubbles here, but I doubt anyone here will be able (or should) force anything here ...

Although, the suggestion would be nice ! Those boards may be easy and quick, for an actionscript related forum, I think we could have something more Flashy (like UltraShock for instance ... Flash front-end right ?)

Then again ... what about our 56k-ers ? We wouldn't want to make it harder on them ...

well the forum itsself should stay html
like on us too

While it sounds like a good idea, I've considerred it heaps of times and for a large site like ours it's still not practicle at the moment.
There would be some benefits, for instance, we could have a standardizes tutorial format (which used XML) but it would take thousands of hours to standardize our content, most of which is run through BLOGs and custom designed dynamic systems now.

Also, flash couldn't (easily) handle the advertising system we use, which is an important aspect of the site as much as some people dislike it.

A Flash navigation might be plausible, but I know the inside story behind how long it too Strok to get everything just the way he likes it... :)

well, when I posted this I meant only the first page, but glad to see the rest
so, what do u think now?? only the first page !

Again, the biggest issue would be the advertising I think. We have to provide detailed information to advertisers about the success of their campaigns and we just can't do that using Flash as well as we can using HTML.
The homepage content actually runs off a BLOGGing system which outputs XML feeds anyway so we could quite easily have it made in Flash if it weren't for that problem.
But really, a Flash homepage and non-Flash site wouldn't be very consistent. I think it would spoil the look of the site. If you're going to do the homepage in Flash the rest should be done the same.

whatever happened to the idea of a chat room?

Ive always thought a chatroom would be great and really popular Im sure. Are there any plans?

I think a flash frontend could be nice but I dont really see any need for it, I think its fine as it is really. Plus I mostly jump straight to the forums anyway.

:D

There are posts but they are really old so you have to change your settings to see them. Yes, the project is discontinued for the moment. Might be an idea to start it afresh using Flash Com Server though (oh no, what did I just begin!)

Yeah Ive seen that forum but found it all locked up with nobody home :(

A flash based chat would be really great. Dont know if anyone has seen it but it was featured in Cre@te Online a few months ago www.datecam.com (http://www.datecam.com) I think. That uses Flash Com Server for chat and it works really nicely - very slick.

:D

about the redesign,

I'm with jesse on this one...
I don't think a flash-splash-page is a good idea for a site that doesn't contain any flash...

the forum is one great place, but when I come here I don't wanna see flash, or animation, or special thingies,
I want to find my content quick and easy, on which the current site is in my eyes one of the best in it's kind.

when I want to see, hear, breathe think and especially ask flash, I just read what people write down...

so I have to say neej to the idea of a flash interface
