ok, the thread is dying..time to bring it back. So recently I was checking out yahoo videos and came across a lot of old favorites. Then I noticed bands like GreenDay and Sum41 have turned into wussy rockers....

Ruben
11-03-2005, 01:48 PM
Yeah that's what's more bands do nowaydays, it seems to me alot of bands have been following the mainstream recently... same goes for marilyn manson and slipknot, not that they've all of a sudden turned into wussy sheepherders but you can really notice they've changed their sound slightly...

- Ruben

Cota
11-03-2005, 05:59 PM
With slipknot, ever since Corey did the StoneSour thing, Slipknot has got softer...

Ruben
11-03-2005, 10:19 PM
Yeah I guess so, however it seems like slipknot has gotten even softer then stone sour ever was... I think it's got a lot to do with corey's "dark gothic voice" as they prefer to call it, I prefer to refer to it as plain crap, it's just not as good as what they used to do.

:( - Ruben

Cota
11-03-2005, 11:21 PM
Well they're going off to the crap side of music. Its rediculous how many bands started off hard and are now getting softer and weaker....just bites..

Ruben
11-04-2005, 03:50 AM
Rammstein for instance, that's a real shame, at first they were making sh:t like buck dich and rein raus, and now they don't really get any harder then mein teil... such a shame

- Ruben

Cota

I love RATM (see previous posts) ... alas, they are no more.

Ruben
11-04-2005, 12:16 PM
I don't know what it is but RATM is the kind of band I can't really stand, just not my thing I guess...

I never really listened to them....just couldnt dig'emRammstein's lyrics are awesome, although my german is ultimately sucky and I wouldn't be able to speak 3 words that fit together I generally get the essence of the songs

Der Ritt war kurz
es tut mir leid
ich steige ab hab keine Zeit
muss jetzt zu den anderen Pferden
wollen auch geritten werdenthe ride was short
I apologise
I have to step off, there's no time
have to go to the other horses

You guys should check out a band called Bayside. They're a rock band, nothing hard. I knew the drummer, he was an old friend. He recently passed away at the age of 26. Tour bus accident. The music was pretty good.
R.I.P Johny "Beatz" Holohan.

Ruben
11-07-2005, 05:20 PM
...am I the only one answering these posts or something? What is this, freakin' excile or something?

Anyway, I listened to bayside's purevolume-section and turns out they're on an Aiden-demo I got from a friend a few weeks ago, not my style but I kinda dig the music, 'Long december' really eases the mind...

Oh and sorry for the loss of your friend man, I wish you strength, and the other bandmembers/family too.

- Ruben

Cota
11-07-2005, 06:52 PM
They just finished a tour in Europe a few weeks before he passed. Its tough to lose a friend, but I think the music world will suffer more than his friends and family.

To change the subject..I just pulled out my old Sum41 CD...good times...Fat lip is still one of the best songs they ever put out.

Ruben
11-07-2005, 06:58 PM
Yeah they used to do some good songs, in too deep wasn't that bad either, wasn't that one in one of the american pie movies?

- Ruben

Cota
11-07-2005, 07:01 PM
I dont remember if it was on the soundtrack....I also like the one they did with Ludacris for the Longest Yard sound track...

Ruben
11-07-2005, 07:03 PM
Ludacris? Longest Yard? ...are those bulgarian traditional dancers with curled mustaches?

 - Ruben

Cota
11-07-2005, 07:04 PM
hahahaha...no...The longest yard with Adam Sandler..Sum41 and Ludacris, rap guy, did this song together....now that I think about it, it just might be your theme song..

Ruben
11-07-2005, 07:08 PM
Don't think so, but maybe it is...I dunno... so what do you think of Lamb of God?

bluegel

Cota
11-10-2005, 07:28 PM

Ruben
11-11-2005, 01:45 AM

- Ruben

Cota
11-11-2005, 01:51 AM
"I Stay Away", "Man in the box", "Roosters", "Angry Chair", the list goes on.

Ruben
11-11-2005, 12:39 PM
I'll try some of them when I get around it. By the way, I went to the sixfeetunder-concert yesterday, man does that band SUCK! Damnit, it was awefull... However, the support acts weren't that bad, there was this one Belgian band that rocked hard! They were called Born From Pain, well guess we all are...

Anyhow, keep your eye out for that last band, they're sound's terrific!

 - Ruben

EDIT: I just noticed bornfrompain's from a southern province of the netherlands, so nothing belgian... ;)

Cota
11-11-2005, 06:16 PM
SixFeetUnder used to be good, but the problem is those guys are like in their 40's now still trying to keep up with a faster generation...Some bands just dont know when to call it quits....

Ruben
11-11-2005, 06:20 PM
I personally have no idea about the order in which they made their stuff, I do know there wasn't really anything I liked there...

...I wonder if Linckx has heard of Born From Pain...

 - Ruben

Cota
11-11-2005, 06:21 PM
SixFeetUnder is what was left of Cannibal Corpse. At one point, they were good, I even bought their album. But now, they just blow.

Ruben
11-11-2005, 06:36 PM
What was left of canibal corpse? I thought it was just the vocals-guy from canibal corpse doing a sideproject with the guitarist of obituary and a couple of others and when the guy got kicked out of canibal corpse he made it a fulltime-thing...

 - Ruben

Cota
11-11-2005, 06:47 PM
pretty much, but cannibal fell apart for the most part after that..never the same.

Ruben
11-11-2005, 06:50 PM
Did canibal corpse sound very different from sfu?

- Ruben

Cota
11-11-2005, 07:04 PM
In my opinion, yes....Cannibal had more slam to their music, where as SFU was just pure grind..

Ruben
11-11-2005, 07:06 PM
Guess the vocals were just as sucky, am I right?

;) - Ruben

bluegel
11-12-2005, 10:33 PM

Cota
11-12-2005, 10:38 PM
Sex Feet Under is a death metal band....not to be confused with those black metal wussy boys..

bluegel
11-12-2005, 10:40 PM

Rage was good...but they got crappy toward the end...

Headshotz

11-15-2005, 12:09 AM
Mental it is..........

Ruben
11-15-2005, 12:15 AM
That'll be 6 dollar 64 unless you want sugar on that donut, but in that case you'd be screwed either way because there's no sugar nor disposable cups to drink your donut from...yeah...

- Ruben

EDIT: Just had to add the 64ct-bit there...

Cota
11-15-2005, 12:18 AM
Ah, but I have a bagel...

Ruben
11-15-2005, 12:24 AM
Then you've been screwed over even more by the big fat billy's mom at the donut-store, yeah, because now you'll need both disposable cups for drinking the little tiny chocolate bits on it plus you will most definately (yeah I know you know that word will make me seem overly educated) need the sugar for compensating the little hair-growth on your cheeks, hell-yeah sugar-mustaches ROCK!

Yeah, I was playing a nine string bass today, very big and hard to play.

A fellow bass player?

Headshotz
11-16-2005, 06:54 AM
Yeah, I should have taken some photos, it was massive.
Its hard because the strings are in 'groups', you will know
if you have played a 12 string guitar. You also need longer
fingers to reach almost anywhere on the fretboard.

I think my next bass will be one of these (http://www.warwickbass.com/basses/vampyre_ltd.html) if I can afford it :)

Cota
11-16-2005, 07:25 AM
I've always wanted the corvete standard, though I'll take an Ibenez anyday....I know what you mean by grouped, I have a 12 string guitar...pain in the ass I Tell you

Headshotz
11-16-2005, 07:35 AM

Headshotz
11-16-2005, 09:12 AM
Yeah, I just dont have enough time to find a band. Ill give
it a few more years then Ill see if there is anything,
there is nothing too serious right now.

Practising, I just play with my favourite songs, once I master
one I move to another, preferably faster and more challenging.
Slappering, Poppering and Tappering, ;)

Cota

Anything by Getti Lee.....he's an awesome bass player.

Ruben
11-17-2005, 06:02 PM
Cota, I just still can't believe you like Ministry, I dug up an old compilation cd that came with an issue of rocksound (http://www.rock-sound.net), on which Ministry's World is, MAN! They just suck the snot end tip of my.......green goldfish named Randy..? It's just horrible...

Cota

@Headshotz - been playing guitar and bass for damn near 17 years now. WoW....I'm getting old....Who would have thought...old by age 28....thats mind blowing...I prefer bass though..

@Ruben - I like select songs...like their cover of "Lay Lady Lay", "ScareCrow", songs like that.

Ruben
11-18-2005, 03:00 AM
Hmm, I'll try some of those when I get around downloading them then...

 - Ruben

Ruben
11-18-2005, 08:51 PM
Hehe, that so reminds me of that one time we got boozed up and drawed eachother pen-tattoos, I had "THUG 4 LIFE" on my belly (and also a really terribly bad-drawn and overly distorded lightbulb around my nipple, but I'm not gonna tell that part of the story). Most funny part was when I wrote "NOT AN ENTRANCE" with a downwards pointing arrow on the lower part of my roommate's back... hehehe, nothing beats some good ol' hiphop nostalgia

:p - Ruben

I've got a skull with horns on my left upper arm...I have a large cross on my right arm that has my sons initials in it, and my daughters name, in gothic letters writen down the back of my right arm. Still have to add the other kids, just waiting to see if I stay married to my wife....;)

Ruben
11-19-2005, 12:32 PM

Technically not married yet...engaged...but whats the difference...

Ruben
11-19-2005, 10:27 PM
Oh, well, anyways, that's great, how long have the two of you been together now?

- Ruben

Cota
11-19-2005, 10:30 PM
Almost 5 years...its been on again off again type of thing. Let me set this up, try to follow me, it gets confusing. I was married once before, thats when I had my son, he's 6 now. I met my fiance and we have a child between us also, my daughter, she's 3. Now, my fiance was also once married. Where she had two other children. 2 girls, 7 and 6. Their father isnt in the picture, so I basically inherited the other 2 girls. Which is why I say I 4 kids, biologically, I have 2. I know, it makes my head hurt too.

Ruben
11-19-2005, 10:35 PM
Ahh, that clears things up a bit. I was confused because you once told me about your kid's mother not being...you know...there anymore...

Ruben

Ah man, those kid's got nothing to complain about; a stepfather who's an actionscript coding-demon with skulls and crosses on all over, now who wouldn't want that?

Damn, I had a funny response from some cheesy movie but I forgot.

Well, I have never put my REAL age online anywhere, I just make it up,
so any hints I give about my age are a lie.

Clue: There is one in this thread, its not true.

Clue: On my Birthday, AS.org will have my age on the birthdays panel, its not true

Clue: My yahoo mail account will tell you Im 96 or something. You can decide if its true or not.

Ruben
11-29-2005, 01:05 PM
Yeah kinda like Disney's The Little Mermaid, remember when the sea-witch becomes all giantish (is that a word? oh f_ck it) and Ariel and the prince are on the boat and it's really awesome and stuff and the sea-witch has this really scary voice as if she had gender-surgery and she goes all "mwuahahaha" and then prince Eric goes like "Ahw shut the f_ck up you ho! Ima F_CK you UP if you don't shut you cum-drippin' mouth up this instant! dang!!", and then he gets his uzi and blasts that biatch, yeah! Alright then, I guess one prince of darkness should do just fine. Though I'm still picking my nose as to what we're gonna do with Jaffar from the Aladin-movie, I mean, Jasmin could find a job in the red-light district and Aladin would perfectly be fitted for the freakshow; hanging in fleshhooks and sh:t... But what should we do with Jaffar? It's not like anyone'd take him serious enough with the ridiculous clothing and the quire-boy goatie thing on his chin...

 - Ruben

PS. In spire of what everyone may think, we're actually not off-topic here; every single one of the Disney-movies had soundtracks......"Arabian niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight"

Ruben
12-05-2005, 10:53 AM
I once heard this story about some little boy who had a problem with his throat, it was always swollen up and swallowing would hurt and stuff like that. They had done some tests in the hospital but nothing came up and they weren't able to find out what the problem was.
In the end it turned out that a couple of months before that he had swallowed one of those little gears (you know, the ones with the cartels in it) and it had gotten stuck in his throat. The throat had gotten all irritated and flesh had grown all over the gear (which explains why they couldn't find anything on the x-rays)...
