Yep, Mort says blue, but I prefer green, so I wanted a second opinion, you think you can do that, Linckx?? :D
Oh, and yo mentionned Skunk Anansie. Great band. I loved "Paranoid and Sunburnt", their first album, very "raw", you know, the kind of music that makes you want to move your head (I broke a nail on "Intellectualize" tough, so I wouldn't advise it for you girls). "Stoosh" was more commercial, with a few nice ballads, but nothing really interesting in there. And finally "Post Orgasmic Chill", a weird album, less fun than the first, but definitely more interesting than the second.

I really like
Charlie big potato
Secretly
Weak
Weep
so the more famous ones,
but I've got a kick-ass version of weak, by K's choice, live and very smooth and easy... love it
robin
oh btw... green might be more contrast then blue... and mort is an expert on those things... try to match with your personality ;)

found marillion, downloaded it, and it is uploading as we speak.
Didn't find 'shadowman' however, and actually that's a good thing,
pearls should stay rare (read that a long time ago on a porsche-commercial)

why so big?
have to check them out tomorro at work,
oh and I'd have to say blue is definately a better colour than green for pom! :)
linckx
03-25-2003, 08:42 PM
because it's a song of 7 minutes :)
aren't you a little prejudiced?
BLUEgel??
I think pom should use green, like in pomme, french for apple :)

k choice
k's choice (official name)
kschoice (used like in their website)
k's
or try
sarah bettens (she's the singer)
you might wind up with 'you always know your home' a song she did for a belgian tv-series with Ozark Henry, nice guy too, very good musician.

hey linckx,
where did you download MP3's from?
linckx
03-26-2003, 11:49 AM
kazaa, but thats only exceptionnal
usually I just search for someone who's bought the cd and copy it from there, no risk for viruses, no hassle with downloadlimits, and that famous- not being able to copy- system is worth **** on a mac :)
you can't copy directly (at least not last time i checked it) but in iTunes you import 'em and then you can burn 'em like nothings happened :d

When I first heard it, I thought it was a guys voice.....but you said the singer is a girl
believe it or not....i can't remember the band...but I know their voice sounds familiar.....that is why I thought it was a guy and not a girl.

k's choice a female, unless with 'shadowman', that's the guitarplayer singing :)

I've been downloading music all afternoon and playing games that the publisher has asked me to test.
I've discoved some new tunes for me to listen to:
Bobby Robinson (easy listening and a bit depressing)
Jessica Martins
Wendy Lee
just downloading the rest of their songs now.
going out for a curry tonight with a mate of mine who is gonna try and work out what is wrong with my computer-I don't have a clue about technical things like that even though I studied computers for two years before my degree, but leave it up to the expects like they say. :)

didn't get the darn computer fixed, its been more trouble than its worth. he thinks that it's either the motherboard (which I had replaced about a month before it stopped working) or the monitor.
So, said we could try another monitor and I go and ask my house mate (beks) to borrow her monitor.
She says "its too heavy", so,
I say, "I'll get my mate Stu to move it" for her.
She then turns round and says, "i don't want a man in my room!" (very odd!)
So, I then suggest "I'll bring my computer upstairs test it in ur room"
She goes "its too much hassle, I don't want to unplug anything, too many wire" (no, she's not a blonde, but she sure as hell was being dumb.)
anyway, so I go back downstairs and tell stu what she said. and he goes "I can see now, why you want to get out of this house"
Basically, my housemates are very odd. so there's the one with the computer, (beks) who, let me give you an extreme example. - A guy tries it on while in a girls room and she doesn't want it. - beks would say, well its her own fault for letting him in the room (which to some extent she's right, but its a bit extreme) - oh and a friend of ours was in this situation and she said this to her face.
Then you've got the other three who don't really talk to me and beks, and we've had house meetings cos apparently someone is stealing food - fingers pointing at me and beks. so thats my housemates - and that is also why, I work late, cos I don't wanna go home.
Oh and hopefully for your sakes, thats my rant for today :) ;)

if you marry boyz you could go live with him ;)
wow, weird living...
I must be the luckiest punk in the world then:
In weekends I live at home, but actually I spend most of my time in the manege(don't know the english word, the place where you can ride horses)
and in weektimes I live at work, the little upper room :)
we live with 4 guys here, but only three live here permanently, and the house is great, we're four non-smokers, and we all love to enjoy: cooking, partying, watching tv, but we sure as hell work hard...
so no probs for me fortunately :)
wish you good luck with your computer: perhaps you should order a new motherboard, you know, the little thing in the big box ;)

Chinese Ghost Story is nothing like Spirited Away. If you ask mereally....i was waiting for the DVD but they decided to put it out in theaters again here in the states. When it first came out, it played only in the RITZ (those theaters that normally play independent films).... Now they are releasing it nationwide.
I guess I'll have to see it to realize the difference.

No wonder we don't get that... We don't have prime minister... :D
I got another question on this joke(?) that I have heard from the Fraiser... It goes something like this...
Niles and Roz were talking about Daphne and her new boy friend...(Old one it was... Don't remember his name though...)
Niles set up Roz and that boy friend of Daphne so that he can get Daphne, and Roz was worried to go on to him because Daphne was her friend... Niles was saying Daphne never slept with that guy so technically she can go on to him... and Roz says how come they didn't sleep together when the time has passes this much or whatever, and Niles goes like 'She's an English'...
So... What does that mean??? What has got to do with sex and English??? It's not like that English is not supposed to have sex before the marriage...
I hope I don't make any noise out of this... I'm just curious... ;)
Any English speaking English can help me understand this???
catbert303

Rain On Me - Tamia
I've been drowning in my own tears
Wasting time running from my fears
When all the while you've been right here
Waiting on me
If I'd have told you what I'm going through
You would have let me know just what to do
And now I know the answer lies in you
This is my pain 'cause
[Chorus]
I've been hurt so bad
Sometimes it makes me sad
Would you rain on me?
I don't understand
This was not my plan
Would you rain on me?
Don't stop the rain
Sometimes I felt all alone
Nothing or no one to call my own
But you're the only one that would be
Faithful forevermore
Deep down inside my soul
You're the only one who really knows
What I need to make me whole
So I can smile again, I
[Chorus 2x]
Rain on me, show me love
I'm waiting on you
Yes, I know sometimes it's rough
Tell me what to do
Rain on me, show me love
I'm waiting on you
You said that I could trust in you
That's what I'm going to do
[Chorus]

Rain On Me - Glenn Hughes
Good people
Please open you eyes
My People
Here come the moon on the rise
I'm steady to fly 'cross the sky
Sightation
Astral projection tonight
And I know that it won't be long
'Cause the temperature's much too strong
Can't you see I've been holding on
Now I am singing a simple song
So let it rain on me
Now the angels are fallin'
Rain on me
Now the whole world is callin'
Rain on me
The angels are fallin'
Rain on me
It's so easy
Easy to walk like you talk
Try to please me
I've been alone in the dark
Let it rain
Let the water rush over me
Can you feel the rain
I Can feel the rain

Rain On Me - Blue Rodeo
We never need forgiveness
Left home at 17
Raised up on hate
To a life that's second rate
I've seen that look before
Behind some closin door
Could be delivered,
Just won't be denied
Too much a child
Confident and wild
Nobody taught you how to live
What to keep and what to give
And now she talks to strangers
They bring her flowers for her hair
And every night you count on me
To peel you off the walls
Oh then you smile and watch me lose control
Chorus:
Rain on me
Oh rain down on me
Rain on me, yay
I used to think I knew
What I was waiting for
I don't think that anymore.
Didn't know what to bring you
Don't seem to need too much at all
No pearls and chains
And nobody's sad refrains
Every time I wonder why
I look back to the kindness in your eyes
Oh and now she talks to strangers
They bring her flowers for her hair
And every night you count on me
To get you out the door
Oh and then you smile and watch me lose control
Chorus
I used to think I knew
What I Was fighting for
I don't think that anymore....

Rain On Me - Hart Corey
Johnny get up, yea, huh
Johnny get up stand up, yea
Broken-hearted story to tell
A dream gone down in the wishing well
Young man was suffering deep
Lucky, lucky, lucky wouldn't shine
Called her up one day
So damn sorry out this way
Seen or heard something new from her yet?
"No son, what you go and do this time?"
It's gonna be like it's gonna be
Cause it's gonna play like it's gonna play
Count your blessings one by one
Baby this time I'm playin' with
Too much, time on my hands
Saddest song in the band
I don't really understand
Why it's gonna rain on me again?
Was I born with bad luck?
My heart's been hit by a truck
Troubled sky clears up
I think it's gonna rain on me again
Johnny get up yea, 'o Johnny stand up
Been rainin' here too long
Broken-hearted in this song?
Oh baby in this song darlin
In this song
Drive your pain, like you drive a knife
Cut edgy and dull through
The corners of your life
Pour me a drink, so I can pour out my heart
(Lucky, lucky, lucky won't shine)
It's Gonna be like it's gonna be
Is it gonna stay like it's gonna stay
Count your blessings one by one
Cause mister this time you're playin' with
Too much, time on my hands
Saddest song in the band
I don't really understand
Why it's gonna rain on me again?
Baby, was I born with bad luck?
My heart's been hit by a truck
Troubled sky clears up
I think it's gonna rain on me again
Since you walked out the door
I'm fightin' a one-sided war
I can't take it no more
It's gonna rain on me again
Johnny get up, stand up
Johnny don't you ever give up
Rainin' here too long
Broken-hearted in this song?
Oh baby in this song
Oh darlin' in this song
(Too much, time on my hands
Saddest song in the band
Gonna rain on me again
Was he born with bad luck
His hearts been hit by a truck
Rain on me again)
Since you walked out the door
I'm fightin' a one-sided war
I can't take it no more
I think It's gonna rain on me again
Too much, time on my hands
Too much, time on my hands
Oh no, no
(Gonna rain on me again)
Oh na, na, na
(Gonna rain on me again)
Oh yea
(Rain on me again)
Johnny get up yea
Stand up, stand up, just get up
Oh no
Take a small journey away from the clouds
Take a small journey away from the clouds
Johnny what you need is some shelter beneath the quite sky
Oh Johnny get up yea-ea
(Rain on me again)
(Na, na, na).

B4 the weekend started she was telling me stuff...and this morning I was browsing my brother's playlist and came across this song.
I listen to it and it just remind me of her.
That is why I wanted the lyrics. :D

Some minor errors I think...
SocialBurn - Rain On Me
You go to sleep by yourself
Cuz you hold yourself like nobody else
What can I do to make you see
Just how perfect you are to me
A cold blows the wind over my hand (not sure if its right b/c it makes no sense)
When you rain on me
All your pain and sufferin'
Time you rain on me
I wish eveybody could see
A cold blows the wind over my hand
Your scared cuz your in the cold
And your scared that you might go back home
Cuz home has never been so great
Its a place that you love to hate
A cold blows the wind over our hands
When you rain on me
All your pain and sufferin'
Time you rain on me
I wish eveybody could see
A cold blows the wind outside...
When you rain on me
All your pain and sufferin'
Time you rain on me
I wish eveybody could see

dag...just got an e-mail for FLASH MMUG (those MM groups...)
I forgot what you call 'em...anyways.
They meeting every 3rd Tuesday of every month....
This month the guest Speaker is Todd Coulson who is an author of Flash MX Unleashed (Sams Publishing) and Flash MX Components: Most Wanted (Friends of ED).
Well...I feel wierd if I go and talk to him b/c I have not read any of his books. :(
But i might go check it out. The topic is about Flash Debugging.
But I have class on Tuesday night. I might leave early and go to the meeting.
Anyways...it has nothing to do w/ songs....I did feel like searching for that thread about Official MM groups.

And I had no idea what UG stand for....
MacroMedia User Group *lol*....I'm a nut case...anyways...
Yea I think I will go. I don't want to miss my chance of meeting an Author (esp. a FLASH Author)
O...Cyan...you're familiar w/ Director....well...I have no clue about it...but is that what you use to make CDs or DVDs w/ FLASH?

working her booty offUm... Um... I just wish she comes back with them on... :D
MMUG meant that??? I thought that they give away mugs when you join the club... ;)
Director... Um... Like I was saying... It's been a while since I didn't touch any Director program at all, so I am pretty much dumb at it... You can do pretty much everything you want to do in Flash plus much much much much more if you use Director... One good thing about Director is the Xtra support that enables more widened stage for the programmers... I think Flash will get there sooner or later with the help of those third party tools such as SWF Studio or Screenweaver and such... Well... That goes with the projector, not the web enabled movies... Director shares pretty much the same limitations when it goes to the web security... :( I guess the best way of handling things will be embedding Flash into Director and make CD out of it... ;)

to inform you.
its knickers for girls and pants or boxers for boys.
But then we also call trousers - jeans/trousers and pants.
Gets very confusing sometimes
oh and I thought I'd write something to the topic of this thread:
I watched "The Life of David Gale" the other day and then as I was downloading random music, I downloaded this song by Bobby Robinson (such a beautiful and sad song):
“INNOCENT”
Preacher came into my cell
he said listen son and listen well
don’t you want your spirit to be free?
Well now father yes I do
Here’s one thing I’ll confess to you…
Can you Answer one Question for me?
Chorus: It’s a capitol crime
My Life’s on the line
But I’m innocent
and the clock on the wall
reads a quarter to twelve
and it’s pointed exactly at me
How can it be?
I’m innocent but God can’t set me free.
Behind these bars what can I pray
in God we trust if you can Pay
I use to think The Truth would set me free.
There’s no defense when vanity
invents its own insanity
and justice is for fools who think they see.
Chorus:
Preacher teacher tell me true
Is this the best that you can do?
Now you too are a prisoner like me.
Please excuse me if I cry
one more time before I die
and Can you Answer one Question for me?
I thought it was appropriate to the film too.

i'm guessing BG stands for BlueGel.
another song on heavy rotation in playlist is "Saves the day - at your funeral" plus some other saves the day tunes. at first it seems really repetitive, but then i forget about that and it's very easy to listen to.
also, on another topic - i saw lilo and stitch yesterday, very enjoyable (even if it is for kids). anyone want to start a "i love this film" thread ? also saw life of david gale recently, what did you think of it bluegel? i thought it was good - different to the influx of action/big budget films of late.

I'm so not with it today.
the film - I thought it was good, made me cry though, but luckly none of my mates noticed. Took me a long time to get my head around what was going on and I liked the twist at the end that was good. Films like that are good if you are still thinking about them a few days later.
Lilo and Stitch - now I haven't actually seen that, but did mention it last night to my boyf about wanting to see it - I think he'll watch anything just to shut me up from whining. it looks really cool
Grifter
04-08-2003, 12:15 PM
i hadn't really seen too much publicity for lilo and stitch (apart from posters which didn't tell me anything about it), but it was quite different to what i'd expected (in a good way).
for some reason i keep seeing stuff about disney and the still-frame problem they have had in the past, even though it's been known for ages. for example, i managed to find my way to this site www.snopes.com (http://snopes .com). i think the aladdin "Good teenagers...take off your clothes" is the funniest one!

Well I just heard the song and recognized it from Daredevil. Personally I think it's OK. Not great.... She's got a nice voice though. On the topic of Daredevil though I thought it could have been heaps better if they didn't try to have a plot. The Xray style footage was absolutely brilliantly done but the plot was pretty blood weak.
Anyways, anyone noticed this is now teh lognest thread ever on the forums? Congrats :)

BTW: The singer from Evanescene....she has a similar emotion or tone to her voice as Hikaru Utada (Japanese Singer).
I think her most famous song is "First Love"
Please check her out. Very talented!!!!
Other tracks that I like from her are "Can you keep a secret", "Wait and See", and "I Love You" (this song I heard from this concert video...don't think there is actually a track out for it)

And -- please do not kill me now -- I finally managed to get my hands on rage against the machine (but I already knew 'killing in the name of' by heart). To be honest I think the whole CD sounds alike... but I can hear that many of today's popular bands, including Incubus and KoRn were influenced.

well to be honest, I only listen to rock and metal and hip-hop for about four years... started out with korn and metallica, limp bizkit and eminem (like most of us I guess), and then the bands that came on MTV, and so on and so on...
Only knew killing in the name of from a little party at school, someone had it on a cd they played, instantly fell in love with it, none of my mates had the cd, hadn't been using mp3's yet, and so I forgot about it. Untill last week when my boss put the cd up in the car.
I recognized bombtrack, and then killing in the name of... and so on and so on...

dunno if you lot will have heard some of them cos you're american.
but listening to carebears at the moment:
Now all you care bears
Come now gather next to me
We're standing here together
Just as proud as we can be
We'll save the world from caring folk, like you and you and me
And when you care together, you become a family.
And its great to be
In that carebear family
And I'm proud to be
Cos your standing here with me
What a job that we've done
There was a part from everyone
So lets give our brand new family a cheer, yeah
And it makes me wanna shout,
And get my feelings out
When friend is standing near
And its great to be
In that carebear family
Yes its great to be
In that carebear family
And I'm proud to be
Cos your standing here with me

very weird songs, but I just love these songs from my childhood.
Mysterious Cities of Gold
Children of the Sun,
See your time has just begun,
Searching for your way
Thru Adventures every day
Every day and night
With the condor in flight
With all your friends in tow
We search for the Cities of Gold
Chorus:
Ahhhh-ah-ah-ah
Wishing for the Cities of Go-old
Ahhh-ah-ah-ah
Someday we will find
The Cities of Gold
Doo doo doo do doo
Ahh-ah-ah
Doo doo doo do doo
Cities of Gold
Children of the Sun
Someday soon you're gonna find
That your destiny
Holds the secret, holds the key
Chorus:
Ahhhh-ah-ah-ah
Wishing for the Cities of Go-old
Ahhh-ah-ah-ah
Someday we will find
The Cities of Go-oo-oo-old!
Doo doo doo do doo
Ahh-ah-ah
Doo doo doo do doo
Cities of Gold
Doo doo doo do doo
Cities of Gold
Ahhh-ah-ah-ah
Someday we will find

This one was so cool, and at the beginning the all slid down a slide through a cave like mountain and had special powers whn they drunk gummie bear juice
Gummi Bears
Dashing and daring,
Courageous and caring,
Faithful and friendly,
With stories to share.
All through the forest,
They sing out in chorus,
Marching along,
As their song fills the air.
Gummi Bears!!
Bouncing here and there and everywhere.
High adventure that's beyond compare.
They are the Gummi Bears.
Magic and mystery,
Are part of their history,
Along with the secret,
Of gummiberry juice.
Their legend is growing,
They take pride in knowing,
They'll fight for what's right,
In whatever they do.
Gummi Bears!!
Bouncing here and there and everywhere.
High adventure that's beyond compare.
They are the Gummi Bears.
They are the Gummi Bears!!

Another really cool song from a really cool program. About a family of raccoons. Bert was the main raccoon, friends with the Evil Cyril Sneer's son Cederic. Other friends included Raplh and Melissa (writers of the Evergreen newspaper), Little Bentley, Lisa, Scheffer, Sophie and Broo. Cyril Sneer was the evil cigar smoking baddie (and was one of those strange pink long nosed creatures..).
The Raccoons
Verse:
When darkness falls
Leaving shadows in the night
Don't be afraid
Wipe that fear from your eyes
The desperate love
Keeps on driving you wrong
Don't be afraid
You're not alone
Chorus:
You can run with us
We've got everything you need
Run with us
We are free
Co-co-co-come with us
I see passion in your eyes
Run with us

re: 80s cartoons
can't say i watched all of the ones you've mentioned, but the fraggle rock theme was cool (never actually watched the rest of the program  ), and i seem to remember watching some of the gummi bears.
but, the raccoons, now there was a quality cartoon! it was on sunday mornings wasn't it? i remember watching that most weeks, although the girl-raccoon was quite annoying. and what were those pink things? they looked kinda like ant-eaters, but what they have to do with raccoons i don't know.
think my fav cartoon had to be transformers, and thundercats wasn't bad. wasn't on tv very much, but Droopy was very good as well.

result: 90% of the pictures with lion-o and tigra (at least that's what I think they were called.)
As for transformers... Liked them, but they were on too late (in the morning, so by then I already had been watching two hours of cartoons, so I had to go do something else :). I do remember the toys though, all of my friends had them, and I didn't. No pity, I'd break 'em anyway :D
