I need some heavy dosage of caffine if coffee doesnt' do the trick!!

Or I could just go to sleep....maybe in the bathroom.
Pretend I have to go and just sit on the toliet and sleep. *hehe*

neat idea, no?

;) @linckx

pain is a good method to fall not asleep. the problem is you can't think very good while you feel it!

Or eat or drink something real hot!

linckx
06-10-2003, 09:36 PM
what pain are you experiencing?

robin

McGiver
06-11-2003, 11:29 AM
let something fall on your foot!

my experiance: I broke my foot on a saturday, and had to wait till monday morning to get to the doctor!
-->believe me: you do not fall asleep that easy :(

linckx
06-11-2003, 11:31 AM
can imagine that... but why didn't you go to the urgency departement of the nearest hospital?

robin

McGiver
06-11-2003, 11:35 AM

I thought it may heal without extra sanitation

I got that image sent to me, accompanied with a song (in dutch however) going like

'we've founded a club for people with an ugly face, you're a member, you're a member"

but in dutch it rhymes, it's something like:

we hebben een clubje opgericht
voor mensen met een lelijk gezicht
je bent erbij
je bent erbij :D

so mcGiver... know what I'm thinking about you when I only have that avatar as a visual :D:D

robin

McGiver
06-12-2003, 08:36 PM

you know my club?:p

linckx
06-12-2003, 08:39 PM

hey: new masterbrain-idea: the one who gets the 1001 post has to send a bottle of beer to the guy who gets the 1000th
(no US, because i hate their beer! sorry guys :D not one of the advantages of living in america)

linckx
06-12-2003, 09:40 PM
hmmm... I'm willing to join the competition... but I want to add this:

the 1001 th post must be a fullworthy post, no smiley, or 'lol' or something, and the word beer may not be mentioned ;) :D

and a post needs to be made when the beer is received.

and at max 50 posts after that a minimum ten-lines-long review on the beer should be written ;)

robin

McGiver
06-12-2003, 09:45 PM
yeah! and the beer should be compared with at least 10 other beers from your homecountry! and the testresults should be postet within 24 hours after recieving the bottle! :D :D :D

linckx
06-12-2003, 09:47 PM
héhé, let's hope I don't receive it on a busy day (if I win) 'cause otherwise I might end up really drunk (I decided I'm gonna drink a zip of the beer I get, and then one other) :D to be able to compare good ;)

robin

McGiver
06-12-2003, 09:53 PM

McGiver, living where you do are you familiar with Gilde Ratskeller?

McGiver
06-14-2003, 03:34 PM
nop, but there are several Ratskeller, and bavaria is big!
Every bigger village has at least one Ratskeller
Ratskeller=the place where the heads of a town met to discuss politics and to get drunken :D

linckx
06-17-2003, 07:20 AM
I think linckx is never sober
you have no idea ;)

no, I'm really cutting back heavily, the last weeks were killer but I don't wanna get killed at 20... :D I'm an orange juice addict now (but of course with some beers in between ;):D).

rockwerchter is coming close and that won't be the most sober 4 days of my life, I'm sure 'bout that, so gotta give my digestive system a break...

btw... was'nt there a beer for the 900th post in this thread also? ;)

--dammit-- this week is gonna be deadly... got an almost impossible deadline for next tuesday and I will only be on the spot for four days :/

not alot of breaks and pauzes this week for me...

cheerio!

lol....it's good you are busy. So it gives me some time to catch up on reading some of your crazy posts......appearantly they are all over the place. :p

I've been busy myself...this internship is a drag. The people I work w/ are cool.

The split up the interns into 9 groups and each team has to work on a project for the summer while working for their managers.
*sigh*
But my team members are cool. I think we were the only team that hangs out together (once a week) *lol*

Anyways, I am beat myself. And tonight my friends wanna hang out.

Work all day and classes all night is really wearing me out.
Ok...they are here...time to go out now.

linckx

finally that presentation is done...
but it wasn't a fun day...

before, the idea was to make a movie, shoot pictures of the people attending, make a powerpoint-like presentation and a normal movie to play on flatscreens... oh and a movie of 'ten years that company'...

afterwards that became:
you can finish the movie aftewards, and the cd-rom can be sent also later... which means that the goddamn lazy people said: oh, than we won't have to speed things anymore, and now I'm the last one to finish all...

wasn't fun.
luckily tomorrow it's rockwerchter... :D

Good Charlotte is such a cool punk bank!!!!

thanks mcGiver ;)

Drink a beer for me too...

you have no idea... Sunday I passed away, had to be carried away by the red cross... because I didn't drink enough :D:D noone believes me ;)

I just fell asleep in the sun for like 3 hours and it was 40-43°...
when I went for a water... everything turned black :D no big deal really :D

For the rest... we were with eight, and the camping rules said '12 cans per person'... so we took 96 of 0.5 L, while only three of us actually drank beer... but we managed to finish them ;)

to be honest, I really disliked good charlotte...
They're absolutely not my kind of music... and I think they were the worst band on werchter... :S sorry boyz...

the top 5 for me:

1. Moby
2. Coldplay (but soooo close to moby)
3. Metallica (would have been 1 if I would have been able to headbang... sinusitis...)
4.radiohead
5.rem

was sooo great....

good charlotte is definitely a teen band!
So do not expect them to be good!:D

but why ----moby? I think he has only one good song!
carried away by the red cross
lol!
red cross: I love those guys! You Drink, until you think it's the end! but that is about the time they arrive, pump out the whole beer remaining in your stomach (when the alcohol in your blood, and the rest is not necessary), so that you can keep on drinking!:D :D :D

linckx
07-02-2003, 01:58 PM
why moby:

I personally like his music
He managed to perform really cool, lively yet not too cheap
and when I say moby, I actually mean that black singer he has with him...

I'm telling you, such a voice, it can get everyone shivers on your spine... soooooo beautifull...

red cross: I love those guys! You Drink, until you think it's the end! but that is about the time they arrive, pump out the whole beer remaining in your stomach (when the alcohol in your blood, and the rest is not necessary), so that you can keep on drinking!

idioteque from radiohead

My best friend got listening to Radiohead. He a fanatic! He joined the Navy andtraveled to all these different places and got a ton of Radiohead import CDs and bootlegs, he has like 50 Radiohead CDs. Anyway hes never seen them in concert and when they came two years ago I went. Best concert I've ever seen your right no Creep and it was still incredable. So after the concert I took my ticket stub, scanned it onto the computer wrote "Scratch & Sniff" on it in Photoshop and emailed it to him. He was so pissed. Classic. I can't wait to see them again.

linckx

yup, mogwai is pretty neat music too ;)
think I saw them somewhere when I didn't know who they were (that's what happens when a festival has got 133 bands on seven stages... you loose control with whom you're watching...)

that looks good, i don't think i'd be able to get out there though. there's a few bands there i'd love to see, the mars volta, mogwai (probably my favourite live act), zero 7 etc. have you heard the zero 7 remix of climbing up the walls by radiohead? very cool.

Glastonbury had a great line up this year, but the tickets sold out so fast (before they'd even announced who was playing) so no festivals for me this year...

linckx
07-08-2003, 04:36 PM
yup, sounds great, but I do regret a little that limp bizkit is going to be one of the headliners... knowing that they were the band that got me to go to festivals...

it's not them I dislike, but those 14-16 year olds who come to the wrong spot... it's just nothing for them... and they bring their parents... and they ruin my fun a little...

but hey, If you go to a festival with over 50 000 people, you can't ask them all to be your kind I guess...

Glastonbury had a great line up this year, but the tickets sold out so fast

If I would be living in England, you'd be mad at me by now... I must have been with the first 1000 people to 'officialy and regularly' buy a ticket for rockwerchter... and that sold out one month in advance, even before the big commercial campaigns on mtv and other channels started...

The summer sanitarium tour over here in NA would be awesome to go to. Linkin Park, Metallica, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, and the Deftones. They're all ok, but Linkin Park is the best. After the tour in Toronto the bands went over to Much Music for an after party. It was really cool.

linckx
07-08-2003, 04:42 PM
wow, summer sanitarium please come my way...

deftones! metallica! Linkin Park! deftones!

robin

Colin Campbell

linckx
07-08-2003, 04:52 PM
well, I don't know much of 'em either, but my personal favorite is the really really really mellow version of 'be quiet and drive away'

my own summer...

If anyone every downloads any Linkin Park, definitly get one of these songs:

And One (unreleased)
Carousel (unreleased)
Faint- Meteora
Figure.09- Meteora
By Myself- Hybrid Theory

Most of you would rather
Breaking The Habit- Meteora
because its slower...

If you like spinning and remixes get some songs off of Reanimation.

hmm, 1 m =3.28 feet

i am 1,88 m--> (where is my calkulator...) 6.17 feet

linckx = 6.03 feet

And you say you don't know the metric systhem or at least you don't use it??? hmm, just have to think of this space mission, which failed because one scientist used meters and the other one feet, and so the satellite (or whatever it was) flew far away where it was supposed to fly

by the way, how many inches are 1 foot ( do you say foot or always the plural feet)?

Colin Campbell
08-22-2003, 11:48 PM
12 inches in a foot. 3 feet in a yard. Blah blah blah. All I care about is:

1.6 km = 1 mile.

I'm just home from pukkelpop;
http://www.pukkelpop.be

darn I've seen some good bands again...
beginning with Staind!! oooh I love those guys

massive attack (really nice background graphics, they update them every show, and they're adapted to the place you're at :))
lamb
mogwai
dave clarke
fisherspooner --> what a show baby!!
the coral --> didn't play their most popular song, which made it really better :D
spooks
spinvis --> dutch word-artist, soo good
starsailor
eels --> wauw!!
polyophonic spree --> let the sunshine in!
michael franti and spearhead --> everytime again, 70000 people in love :d:d

the groups I didn't mention I didn't see, or they weren't that great...

foofighters were allright but not as convincing as expected, but limp bizkit and pennywise sucked big time... :s

I'm tired...

wow, sounds like a great festival :D
I saw lamb years ago supporting pop will eat itself
(who's singer went on to write film soundtracks including requiem for a dream, which has to be one of the best soundtracks ever :))

lamb were pretty weird back then, their set consited of what sounded like distorted bike engines revving played for at least 20 minutes. it was... uh. interesting I guess ;)

lasted only three weeks, but with two major festivals in 'em...

Didn't you know a lack of beer is very unhealthy?

you're more right than you think, I drank as much coca cola as I usually drink beer (we always drink together with the group we go out, you know, one gets something and brings for the rest) and I felt more sick than ever... I never drink myself drunk, but with coke, i felt really nocious... :s

and you know what I did with the beer? I gave it away... well, one of my friends had 6 re-examinations but he passed after spending the entire summer studying... so I think he earned it, but we're gonna drink with the entire group ;)

Does this not make you happy:

Satellites And Astronauts

Since the day of my departure
I've been stumbling through reality
I play my symphony in reverse
In search for that special path

Be gentle to the tear in this I
Lonesome arms, lost its wings again

Buy me a trip to the moon
So I can laugh at my mistakes
I can see the end from here
From this perspective it looks kind of silly
Satellites and astronauts
Tell me there are greater things ahead

Make me feel like a man
A silent cry from the middle of hell
I - the irony - I promise, I'll be mature
So please, invite me to your shelter again

Been hiding since I heared "never"
Take me back to yesterday, I need to grow

Steal my mask and make me pay
I need a new skin
I'm going insane

Dream Theater is progressive metal, but they don't make anything too hard, alot of cool lyrics too, some cool little tunes. In Flames, well, don't try them. I was fortunate enough to receive a full-time job offer from my internship this summer.

I haven't decided if I want to work for them or not. But the job starts in June 2004.

But I still don't have job this semester to support myself. :(
Living off my scholarship which is fading pretty quickly.

Sorry to hear that Bluegel. I hate to hear of people having a hard time. My friend was saying he went to your site and got a great tutorial off there. He wanted me to thank you for that.

Things are pretty good here *not that anyone cares ;)* I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of Halo for PC. Oh man, will that rock! In the meanwhile, my monitors screwed up on me. The centers perfectly clear, but as you move farther away from the center, the quality drops to a point where its hard to read anything  I'm getting a new one on Wednesday anyway, either a Viewsonic or a Samsung. Samsung= $329, Viewsonic=$389. I'm pondering between the 2. From what the guy said, they're both 19" CRT monitors, but the Viewsonic supports a bigger resolution, and also a higher refresh rate. Oh well... everything else is dandy, even though I can't go on flash because of the monitor problems.

Oh yeah, and school, it sucks and is good at the same time. In one way, theres so much work, in another way, I never do the work, and I'm getting alot more comfortable there.

Well, peace, thanks for listening to my reasonless problems. :p

I was watching a Johnny Cash tribute on TV tonight and it prompted me to find his video for Hurt. Its probably the most heartbreaking video i've ever seen, rumour has it that it reduced Zach de la Rocha (Rage Against the Machine) and Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) to tears...

I completely agree with you.
What makes it so sad (the song so good) is that it is the most honest song he ever wrote. it makes you feel as if ou can look inside of the soul of this poor old man. Johnny cash's wife died some before. He took cokaine and some other drugs during his life.
He is very lonely, and sad if he looks back on his life.
All the drugs and the dead of his wife made him depressive, and the only thing remaining is the pain.
He knows that there is no way back, no way to change the past.
He is tired of his life, and just hopes on a second chance after his life, where he would not make all this mistakes again

Hi,

hows things? hope everythings going okay now :)

me? i'm kind of semi-unemployed; a man of leisure as I prefer to think of it ;) I just finished my thesis (woohoo!) and now i'm waiting until 3pm on the 20th when I have to go back to university for an interview with the examiners. Now I just need to get through that and then find a real job ;)

enjoy linkin park, the next gig i'm going to is the Super Furry Animals at the Brixton Academy on the 18th, can't wait :D

were you doing a PHD or a masters? and what were you doing?

what kind of job do you wanna do? Just so I know and dont step on your toes in trying to get a job :D

I'd love to see Super Furry Animals, but none of my mates like them, so have fun - but not too much ;)

a masters degree, its title was "interactive generation of uniformly random samples of world wide web pages", I think there is some law that says they have to have crazily long titles. basically I built a game that could be used to crawl the web, and collect data about the pages it visited.

A job, well progamming stuff would be good, maybe something using flash or PHP :) Definitely no more maths teaching :)

maybe they'll play a festival were some other bands your friends like are also playing and you'll get a chance to see them then :) It's been years since I last saw them live, at Reading 98 I think, so i'm quite excited :)

I worry for the darkness. With all that spandex a tragic static electricity accident can't be far off...

héhé, might be cool to see that on the next MTV VMA awards ;)

Thanxx for the warm wishes guys! In two weeks I'll finally have internet at home, so I might just visit once in a while, but I won't find the time to hop on the actionscript2 freight train, since I've got sooo much work to do...

I'm learning things on the inner human (with colleges like pedagogics, sociologics, communications, filosofy etc...) in school, and doing a course for (please don't laugh at me) photomodel & mannequin, so the outer human body I'll get to know how to use it to...

In 3 years I'll be specialized in people :)

I loooove the work I'm doing right now every day more and more. The satisfaction, gratefulness and friendship you get from those people are soooo great... There's of course some 'not-so-fun-sides' attached, but can't tell about them due to 'professional secret'...

anyways, I hope all you guys are great, cause you're part of a great community which you all helped making great.

cheers

Linkin Park? UGH! They're a BOY BAND, one step over (not up) from The Back Street Boys. Same goes for 311 and the other pseuedo metal/rap groups.

C'mon, you can find something a little better than that. ;)

The latest CDs that I've picked up are:

The Soundtrack to Rushmore
The Kings of Leon

and I'm gonna go back and get:

Iggy and the Stooges, Raw Power (the original)

Also, anyone who likes that song, get System. the end is just so high energy

I gotta admit that the new metallica isn't what I had hoped... I sense even a lot of similarities with 'untouchables' of KoRn... but in the end it made a great cd nevertheless...

Do like st.anger and frantic a lot... but the songs are so long you get quite bored after three, unless you're doing something else while listening...

hey boyz... I guess I'm in the same ship as you know... we'll be known as 'those guys who started the biggest thread and kept it going, but do something else now' ;):D

So does Darius (http://www.dariusmusic.com/) ;)

for people outside the UK who may not have had the misfortune of coming across him he was a contestant on popstars, (the show that spawned things like american idol) most famous for his "unique" rendition of "baby one more time"

I'm currently listening to Soulwax - "Smells Like Booty" (Smells Like Teen Spirit remixed with Bootylicious) their mix of Skee Lo's "I Wish", The Breeders "Cannonball" and Eye of the Tiger is pretty cool too :) bootleging rocks! :D

Oh boy, trust me, in a few years Linkin and the other boy/rap/metal bands will be a fading stain on history.

They're a music business concoction that's geared for little tykes such as yourself. It's a swindle.

In the words of Johnny Rotten, "Do you ever feel like you're being ripped off?"

I think this is something you can't argue about.
I wouldn't count linkin park as a boyband, (of course the band consists of boys, but with this definition metallica (and several better bands) would be boybands too)
They are like "him" (the band), and a lot of others. the made some good songs for sure, but what they produce is some kind of designed-for-mainstream music (produced to make as many people as possible like it). nothing new, nothing special, but not a boyband at all.

I hate being spoonfed when it comes to art. If you can't argue about art what can you argue about? My point is there's more out there than "Alternative Top 40".

Linkin Park and the like are Music Business manufacturings that don't do anything original or unique. They're formulated, strategized and marketed, they have more money behind them for production, videos etc. and they do this to ... make more money! There's no art to it.

There's a lot of music that covers the same territory that's so much better and it's grown from the ground up rather than fabricated through talent searches and corporate strategies.

Still haven't heard anything in the rap/metal division that beats the Anthrax/PE duet. That had some fire behind it, not this whining, self-indulgent, pseudo-introspection mixed with Diva type vocalizations.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

On another front, I lost an assload of CDs about 6 months ago, had them in one of those huge 200 CD catalogs :( . So, I'm slowly rebuilding my collection but this time I'm doing it with iTunes so I have a backed up source. Often times I'm just borrowing the CDs from friends and ripping them but for the most part they're CDs that I DID own at one point...for the most part, *cough*.

Yesterday, started rebuilding the Weezer section.

Today: The Hate Bombs, The Bad Livers and a nice mix CD that Pinkaboo gave me of legendary Manchester bands (bless you sweetie).

I'd agree with that, but it can go too far the other way. I remember a punk fanzine in the UK (I'm not sure if its still around or not) that wouldn't review records if they had a barcode on them, since this was the only way they felt they could be certain there was no major label money involved to corrupt the art. from what I heard of the records they reviewed, most were uncorrupted by the presence of a tune too. ;)

Currently listening to Rounds by Fourtet

K, I don't want to rag on you too much here, but you need to get your facts straight. They weren't formed from a talent search or anything. They formed a band, played the clubs, and hit it big. I don't see the problem with that. Just because a band's successful and you don't like their music doesn't give you the right to make s*** up out of the blue. I hate tons of bands, but I don't go out hating on everyone who likes them. I hate 3 doors down, but my friend likes them, and I respect that, its not like I go out "3 Doors down sucks! they're fabricated crap" I know you don't mean bad, but I hate when people try to make an agruement with grounds that aren't true.

BTW: If Linkin Park is so "fabricated" and "uncreative", give me a band before them that had the same sounds, and a yelling singer. Then you have an agruement.

oh, and the art side, look at all the design in the videos and CD booklets.

Currently listening to: Adelleda- Alexisonfire. You want screaming, you got it in this band.

Oh Colin, I'm not "hating on" you, whatever that means, I'm hating on Linkin Park, really not even hating, just think their kinda unoriginal, predictable and they represent that thing Charles Bukowski hated so much...obviousness.

I actually did do some research and I can't find a definitive answer that refutes or supports the RollingStone article that came out a while back but honestly at this point it's really not important, Enjoy them all you want but I'll bet you in 10 years you won't have any interest in them at all.

Hmmm, rockbands with yelling...that will be a tough one. ;)

They did have a few good bands on their "influences list", notably Fugazi, a yelling band, though I doubt the feeling is reciprocal.

On to more music, the SoundTrack for Dog Town and Z-Boys looks like it could be good, Kay and I cuddled up to watch the DVD. Great flick, maybe a little too jumpy in the editing but all in all very informative and entertaining. Great tunes.

You know something Vile ? Sometimes it's really nice to listen to unoriginal music. Like watching a Disney movie once in a while. Especially when you're tired and don't feel like thinking too much, or when you really need to hear something, but not something that will affect the work you're doing at the moment (because with me, the music I listen to often influences whatever I'm working on ... emotions can be a tad annoying sometimes)

I'm listening to some J-Rock at the moment ... and not really liking it. Malice Mizer is not my thing I guess ... oh well, I gave it a shot.

Yeah, the nice thing about the iTunes sharing feature in an office of 50 or so people I can peruse everyone's libraries without having to buy anything.

It's also good because I can listen to a few guilty pleasures without the stigma of anyone knowing I own them. ;)

That or I tell them "It's for reasearch", or "We're thinking of using this in a commercial I just wanted to give it a listen"....mmmmm, tax deductable tunes.

hows your new job going linckx?

greater than that? should be a k's choice or metallica performance... or tool or so, I mean I've really found something I don't only like doing, but also got the natural skills to do. You can't believe (unless you found such a thing too) what kind of relief it gives: to be not the worst and actually be gifted... it's....soooooooooo great!

b.t.w. I saw the name P.O.D. --> I really like their song for the soundtrack of 'any given sunday' - whatever it takes...

makes them sound really tough without losing the 'catchiness' of 'alive' or 'youth of the nation'
