@boyz : You're probably not into Japanese music, but if you just like guitar playing girls and you're looking to broaden your horizon, check out ZONE. Where have you been ? Busy ?

Robin Hood, I think he was probably way too much of a goody-twoshoes to actually be drunk ... well, for most of the part. It's hard shooting arrows when you're drunk I figure ! :D

Well, if you're going for the old-man look, where's your cane ? If you want to keep it in Holywoodstyle, you can have a white marble one with a cobra head for a handle or one with a steel spike hidden in it. :)

robin hood?

whats that all about.

Ive been trying to nag my boyf to teach me to play guitar, but he says im too stubborn and will shout at him if I cant do something, which is probably true. his housemate gets paid to teach people so I might pay him to teach me. i can play some cords though. i wanna be a country singer and song writer if my permanent job falls through :p

Hey, Bluegel's back ! The thread is returning to it's normal self. :)

About Robin Hood ... it's a dutch word joke. A hat is 'hoed' (pronounced almost the same as 'hood') in Dutch. And since linckx's name is Robin and he's wearing a 'hoed' ...

Hehe...

I had the greatest birthdayparty...
We had this tiny festival in Olen (app. 5000 people) and I invited 73 friends by email...

only 5 came... :(

BUT!! when the day took place... there were suddenly 25 of the best friends I have!!
They had been planning things for months and months, they even created a forum where they could meet and arrange stuff! for my birthday!!

They first had plans for this big game, but because I invited them, they decided to come... otherwise I would have had a big game ;) but the festival rocked!

stash, vive la fête and magnus, great bands!!

I was sooooo suprised!

I've been a bit busy... dropping by here and there :D
Since I have not done FLASH in a long time...i have been spending less time here :(

I had to learn PERL! So far, I have about a month's experience.

Another project I'm thinking of for my team ....was to use PERL as the backend and FLASH as the interface. I'll have to come up w/ a demo to show my manager. Hopefully he'll approve. But this is way in the future. Probably a few months down the road.

I've recently got into anime music. Currently listening to Ayumi Hamasaki

Speaking of ANIME!!!! Has anyone seen "Fruits Basket". I love it!

Ayumi Hamasaki ? NOoo ! Don't go there ! Ayumi Hamasaki is the Japanese Britney Spears. Need I say more ? I call every girl who has the same haircut an 'Ayumi' ... When it comes to voice, I like Utada Hikaru (you may know her from Final Fantasy X-2 and Kingdom Hearts if you play PS2 games), but there are only a few of her songs that I really like (Sakura Drops, Travelling)

I've seen Fruits Basket. It's great ! It has a nice story and you grow so attached to the characters. "Baka neko." "Urusai kitanai nezumi !" ^^

It's a girls anime though. But at the moment I prefer those (I had a mecha overdose after watching Gundam Seed, all 50 episodes, in 2 weeks). If you like Fruits Basket, try : Full Moon wo Sagashite, Kokoro Toshokan (it's for kids, but really great whenever you feel down), Chicchana Yuki Tsukai Sugar (Little Snow Fairy Sugar).

If you like more Japanese Fantasy oriented anime, try Aquarian Age.

And if you like 'ecchi' stuff, try Mahoromatic. It's about a fighter android who gets to spend her last year as she wishes. She decides to become a maid (including the french maid outfit). She becomes the maid for a boy who lives alone after his parents died. Something is growing between the two, but she has to deal with his female teacher who's constantly making sexual advances at him and trying to talk her down for having smaller breasts.

And on the exact other end of it is Saishuuheiki Kanojo (My Girlfriend, the Ultimate Weapon). The story is touching and it's definitely not a 'feel good' anime. Although you'd think it's one of those mecha stories (the girl's a ... which is part human ? Androids or cyborgs ?) but you see everything from the point of view of her boyfriend, so you don't see lenghty battle scenes. Only the pain of being powerless and having to see his girlfriend being used as the only real defense against the enemy.

boyzdynasty
05-17-2005, 04:11 PM
Utada is good. "First Love" is still my fav song by her.
I saw her perform from her new US album in Feb at a New York night club.
She was okay.

I saw Saishuuheiki Kanojo. I liked it.
Do you notice a lot of anime uses a lot of High School characters (esp. girls).
Hehe...

My girlfriend lend me Fruit Baskets and I watched it....I went through all kinds of emotions.

I'll try your recommendations. I'll ask my gf if she has those selection (actually her brother).

I wonder if he knows I have his stuff

Ricod
05-18-2005, 11:34 AM
Yes, including high schoolgirls in your anime ought to guarantee better sales.
Like one of the current hits, Mahou Sensei Negima. It's about a 10 year old boy from England who just graduated magic school (I guess the writer either's been reading a lot of Harry Potter or just like to make use of the Harry Potter rage ... Negi even looks a bit like him) and get assigned to become a teacher at an all girl high school in Japan. Negi can't control all of his power when he sneezes though, so when he does, strong powers get released in all directions and with him being rather small it usually leads to updrafts lifting girls' skirts. Try to explain that as : "it's necessary for the story." ;)

Make sure when your girlfriend tells her brother she also mentions which videos. Before you know it you get weird conversations like "I'm missing some videos from my stash ..." "Oh, I lend them to my boyfriend." "You gave my porn to your boyfriend ? He can keep the tapes !" "Ehrm, porn ?" "Did I say porn ? I meant porc. Yes, Porc." :)

Hehe...

that reminds me of an assignment I had to do years ago. I decided I'd go and take some manga pictures and make a design with it...

I googled for manga, and found the word hentai...
That wasn't what I was looking for...

But it involved schoolgirls!

it's in the sign of peace of course... but what if Bono and Snoop Dogg end up together with the last hot dog?

Happy Belated Birthday, bluegel!

I've really been enjoying the new Weezer (Make Believe) - a good solid cd throughout.

Also, in heavy rotaion is the new NIN (With Teeth). At first I was unsure about many of the tracks on here, and it's possible that, if it wasn't Reznor, I would have never given it a proper listen - especially since I never got too into The Fragile - but I am now a huge fan of this album. Especially "Every Day is Exactly the Same". Great track!

I recently saw the beverlyhills-videoclip, kinda liked it (eventhough I'm more into metal).
Also watched the video for bitethehandthatfeed (NiN), didn't do much for me, neither did the song itself...but hey, it's always different when you see the clip instead of just listening to the song, right?

YUP!!! Weezer's new album is great. I love the first 3 lines of the second version in "Perfect Situation". Went through a similiar situation <ha!>

Get your hands off the girl,

@Ruben, that weezer track stood out for me the first time i listened to the album, its a good one. I felt the same way about the Nails single (and the album), too. but it really grew on me.

I really like that remix too! it's great, but doesn't beat the real song... Korn coming to pukkelpop this summer.

I also saw NIN on Werchter, but I've got to be honest... I didn't know ANY song of them... :$
But they were absolutely rocking!

Best bands I've seen: Jimmy eat World, Tom Helsen.

I's a medley played with just a ukelele. :) For those who think it sounds really familair, you've probably heard it in some movies (50 first dates, finding forrester, hannibal etc.) and some commercials (there's one airing here in NL at the moment)

What kind of groups you know play the faster kind? I'm getting into salsa etc... because of her ;)

p.s. see the movie 'lucia el sexo'... it's quite explicit, but the atmosphere of the movie is great!! And it's a great way of combining 'porn-like-scenes' with 'far-out-script' and a difficult timeline to understand... I all saw it because (how could you have guessed) she rented a spanish movie :D

MotograterNo, never heard of 'em, currently searching kazaa for it. Regarding LP, they're not bad, but I don't really consider them 'gr8' either. I dunno, I guess it's just too poppy for me... Same goes for Papa Roach nowadays, they used to have some good stuff, like Last resort and Between angels and insects... I read through a rocksound (http://www.rock-sound.net)-issue about a year ago which had a review on a consert of theirs, the guy who wrote it was talking about them doing synchrone jumping on certain moments in songs, hearing that really put me off, I mean, bands with members at the age of 10 don't get away with stuff like that ;)

 - Ruben

Cota

I'm very selective when it comes to Manson, some of their songs I flat out cant stand and some of their songs I really like. But I will respect the fact that Marilyn Manson himself, is a very educated man. Which shocked me alittle.

Ruben

Anyway, I kinda feel the same about most of their songs, some are kinda crap and some are really good...

I have seen many metal bands dress scarily on stage but he is a bit weird... He does have some good songs though.

There is a German heavy metal band, I saw on Mtv (Yeah they still play music, not all taken over by crap tv shows, yet) and they are all really fat. Does anyone know what they are called?

Cota
09-07-2005, 08:33 AM
You have to hear Manson speak when he isnt on stage or putting on a show for the media. I heard somewhere that he has a philosophy degree. Not sure if its true, but if you hear him speak out of character, its believable.

Regarding the titties-thing, I always though that was just something in the dopeshow-clip, right?

Oh and at Headshotz, you must be aiming at Rammstein, but they're not that fat in real life, that was just for the videoclip, awesome band by the way, you gotta listen to Spiel Mit Mir or Buck Dich (Bend Over)

Sure, is a cola alright? Hehehe, I remember that everytime we used to ask for a coke back when we were in Canada the waitresses would ask if a pepsi was okay, and when our holiday was near its end we one time asked for a pepsi and guess what they asked; "...is a cola alright?". I've never heard of Immolation by the way. Oh now that we're talking about really crappy bands; my housemate played some music on his laptop made by a band called Anal C_nt (some band from somewhere near where his parents live), hahaha, it was just terrible, I couldn't even figure out what they had intended it to sound like...

Cota
09-13-2005, 04:31 PM

Ruben, please do consider the time they started off. Metal was young... Besides, everything in the 80's was bad! :D Can you imagine them calling themselves "Abba" or something of the ilk... It just wouldnt cut it. Metal was very young, and people didnt know any better...

It is a sh!te load better than NSync or any other of the new 'stars' that make their appearance...

One thing that baffles me is how it took many other great bands/musicians YEARS to release a Greatest Hits album, yet some current day 'artists' release theirs after only a couple of years in the industrie... That's just not right man.

There was this other band doing their GH as well, after releasing but 3 albums or something, but it seems that I just can't think of which band it was... hmmm... Anyways, I agree, I think it's also a lack of creative inspiration that drives bands to greatesthits-albums just too fulfill their contract.

I heard some songs by cradle of filth. What the hell is
that thing doing the vocals, can't be human ;)As a matter of fact it isn't; it's called a voice-synthesizer :D Though the growls and grunting usually are actually coming from the throat of the vocalists of metal-bands...

very long time no see,

so forgive me if I pick in on subjects of 7 pages ago, but there were some bands mentioned I really like:

Papa Roach (with the infest CD)... I actually like the song 'getting away with murder' too... and last time I saw them live, they were very good, no synchrone jumping... more like... come up on stage and i'll trash you good.

Linkin Park... maybe wrong maybe not, they had super songs but I think they're a bit over the top... (cross my fingers that they do the same thing eminem still does for me: make a better record than the previous one, with songs that make me forget the whole marketingmachine behind such big bands)

Slipknot... never liked them. Except for a couple of songs... I'm crazy on 'duality', 'wait and bleed', 'heretic song'... a bit the commercial ones ;) And the drummer... he can drum me into sleep every night! that's what it's about.

So, that's what i had about that bands, now let's check out the pictures of rocking and cocking :)

robin (damn, that kinda rhymes on cocking... could be a lyric for hiphoplica)

I mean, if those would've been your parents, you would've been doomed into being forced to listen to abba and simon and garfunkel and sh!t for the rest of your life and eventually you would die of a serious shortage on reality in your head and a daily overdose of hugs and happiness

PS. Alrighty, let's awake this ol' pal anyhow...; so winamp3 freaked out on me last night (all songs were displayed under other band-/songnames and stuff), so I ended up installing winamp5, eventhough I hate the guts of it so bad I would turn myself into a virtual lama-herder and bang up the winamp-lama with my herder-stick. Is there anyone here with the same feelings?

Ummm Motogrator only appears to have released 5 songs and their stuff is getting hard to find. Dimebag Derrall from Pantera is still dead, Metallica is still a sell out, and boy bands still suck a goat..

I used to be a huge Nirvana fan, I was like 14 when then came out. They were the masters of the 3 chord song..

Ruben

Yeah I figured you would've been a nirvana-dude back then... I find it rather fascinating that even now (over 10 years after) you still see kids buying all kinds of nirvana-merchandising and stuff, they really left a legend... and of course Courtney Love is keeping Nirvana news coming every now and then...

I've gotten a ton of new music since I last posted... one of my favorite artists just released a greatest hits record. Check out this page for some audio samples (http://umusic.ca/site/media/matthewgood/audioconsole/index.php). You should really check out Near Fantastica and House of Smoke & Mirrors.

I'm liking the new Franz Ferdinand right now.

I also just purchased the Oasis discography which it awesome.

I have been into a more indie rock mood for the past month.

Can't wait for the Killers new cd to come out.

Though they should have retired about 10 years ago.

I can't stand ICP. I can't listen to RAP or R&b either. Which is wierd because that is all I used to listen to till I was about 20.

Nah man, the stones still rock! Eventhough all I listen to is their oldie-goldies... I can't stand most rap and r&b either, there is some stuff that I listen to on occasion, like cypress hill (although that's kinda raprock or something) and some eminem stuff is cool as well, though his latest stuff is crap in general....

p.s. ruben, why don't you use iTunes? I always do, and the pc-version is also better and easier to use than any WinAMp, Audion, Mediaplayer etc... will be...Because iTunes fills up the whole f_cken screen!!! iTunes sucks, I mean, come on, my housemate told me he once had his whole mp3-archive managed and organised in iTunes and then one fine day it crashed and he had to start all over again... and on top of that apple force-feeds you the whole iTunes thing by bundling it with quicktime, so F_CK iTunes! Damnit!
Oh and might I add that most of the music-players nowadays seem to go for filling up the whole screen, even wimamp with it's freakin media library, but at least winamp can be minimized to only the stuff you need...

"People say that I'm a bad influence, I say the world's already f***ed, I'm just addin to it" :eek:Hey, did you get that quote from a teeshirt or something..? :D

iTunes on Mac is great, there are itunes widgets for
dashboard that make it really small and compact, my
iTunes has crashed once on my old mac but it didn't screw
anything up.

Any Mac/iTunes users, have you noticed that in the latest
update for iTunes they took away that good looking scratched
metal and replaced it with a gradient of 2 tones of grey!

Mine runs fine... (1.8 P4) Or at least, the version before 5 did... This ones not bad, but it is definately slower than 4.

Also, living in SA, we cant use features like the music store and such.. it really bites balls... :( Wouldve been nice if you could install only the player - no music store etc.

linckx
10-03-2005, 09:56 AM
I run iTunes since it came out, never crashed, always fast...
Quicktime? not included...
Bugs? not included
Whole screen? If you don't minimize, yes... and if you maximize you can still rescale...

I liked the scratched metal more btw...

p.s. the quote is a song from eminem, called 'bad influence'

you may think I'm a bad person,
don't be so sure of it
I don't do drugs, I only encourage it.

SoulFly....cant go wrong with that.Ahhh, Darn it! Shame on you! That was Sepultura, Soulfly didn't make Chaos A.D.

I have both installed and the older is is LOTS faster opening files. That seems to be the problem with lots of software today the day (especially the graphic applications), maybe programmers assume that everybody's got the topnotch stuff nowadays... I can't even run the CS2-stuff properly without having to shut down all of the other stuff in my taskbar, I mean, wasn't that only required when installing the software??
