databases and flash

hi, simply help!!! I need to get flash to call up content (text) from a database and place it in a specified area of the page, the idea being as the database is updated so is the site. I was intending getting the database to generate an XML document and then have flash read the XML file and hence gather the information. is this the correct manner or id there a more efficient method of working with databases? Thanks!
