Please take a look at our newest product - Zoomifyer EZ. It makes it easy to use photos and other bitmap content in Flash - regardless of image size. We're giving image-to-tiles converter and swf viewer away for free - hoping having the fla is worth the low price of the upgrade (also have other developer and vertical market features). Available at www.zoomify.com.
What I'm daring to request is that some of you who use high-res raster content will take a second to beat on this and let me know if it meets your needs or not and why. Feel free to speak bluntly - I can take it. And I'm happy to provide the non-free upgrade product too - just let me know you'd like to bang on it.
Don't critique our site - not the point. Wish we could put time into rev'ing it but we're totally focused on cool product development - online annotation, JPEG2000 support, more more more!
Thank you!
Dave
Hello,
I'd be glad to help you test your product if you are going to give the FLA to the testers (and, if I understand you correctly, that's what you were saying, I just am not 100% sure). You can email me here pj@pj88.net or just reply to this thread.
Also another side note, is that a picture of the World Trade Center disaster site? I'm not sure that a good one to use for marketing a product.
Cheers,
-pj

Thank you for your response PJ.
Yes, on a case-by-case I'm happy to provide the FLA - actually the Zoomifyer for Flash product - to get some feedback. The actionscript is a bit involved so you may not have time to go into it in detail - but certainly there is always room for improvement and I'd welcome input - many out there know special tricks we could learn from. At a higher level, the simple question of bumbling mistakes every company makes is one I'd like an extra eye on - and the issue of the general uses and usefulness of the product. I'll contact you offline to get you the product.
Regarding the image, I apologize if you found it inappropriate for us to have it on our site. We've had it on various pages for over a year and have had primarily very positive responses. It is something many feel many should see. We specifically did not present it as the first image as that would have been a splash in conjunction with the blurb at right and would definitely have been too close in proximity to the marketing stuff. The third image, incidentally, is from a cancer study - another difficult topic for many but one which many doctors say is exactly what they need to see to see the value of the technology. It is my hope that by putting the latter two images off the initial display shows respect and putting them in an accessible place for those who do want to see them is therefore not insensitive but helpful. I do want to hear your thoughts. Will contact you at the address provided.

Very Cool. As for the WTC picture. We should not let other peoples insecurities get in the way. Whether people like to talk about it or not this is a tragity we all went through and hidding images of it and not talking about it doesnt change it. Also that image was perfect to show detail. I wasn't impress until I zoomed all the way in on WTC site and was clear. Very impressive. I'll take a copy.

I clicked on the large MB examples, but none of them came up... then again, I only waited about 30 seconds... (probably more than most will wait).
I'm referring to the demos at the top of this page: http://www.zoomify.com./flash/
Yes, I have a cable modem... :)

Hi Theron,
Thanks for the heads-up. Web team was updating the home page on multiple servers...apparently broke the Flash page demos - except the 'Full Screen' demo - you'll see it still works. They just need to plop the right SWF on the servers. I'll tell them asap. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Any feedback on the home page demos or the Zoomfyer EZ product? Any questions??
Thank you,
Dave

Theron,
The problem appears to be due to the extra period in the URL you used - just after 'com'.
http://www.zoomify.com./flash/
rather than
http://www.zoomify.com/flash/
Not an HTTP guru myself and surprised that that makes it to the page. In any case, the correct URL works.

Yeah, not sure how that happened, but it worked with the correct URL...
This software is amazing, how the hell do you guys compress huge files like that for display on the web? Or is that your trade secret?

Very glad you like it!!
We do use compression but the real optimization is in not delivering anything except the exact part of the image you're viewing at the exact resolution level you're viewing. It's about creating tiles and tiers and making all that transparent to the user via a nice interface.

now you're talking too much, dave ;) there's people with skills over here :)

Iv only been using flash for 6 months now and have found this site most usefull, it is an ideal place to test out ideas and ask for help!
I was wondering if you wanted to test your software on the lower end user who might be able to give you feedback on some of the basic features?
I liked the site, and the software seems to be something that we could all use, JOB WELL DONE.
