FMS 3.5.3 and Apache Tomcat

I have FMS 3.5.3 installed. Is Apache Tomcat a suitable rather than Apache's HTTP server? There isn't much information on the web on this information, but is it possible?

use tomcat if you primarily develop java, use apache if you use php.
