I've been working on a generic thumbnail preloader for my site.
This works well on my dialup, but I could do with finding someone who doesn't have a lot of processing power, but has a fast net connection to help me test something.
The reason is this: after the preloader bar disappears, there's a fade effect where a duplicated square fades out to reveal the thumbnail below it.
On my 56k, most of the fade-outs occur seperately and so it's not too processor intensive, but it occurred to me that on fast connections the pics will probably load all at once, and so all the fade-outs may happen simultaneously too, which may bog down slower computers.
For anyone who wants to give me feedback on this please take a look at this page (http://www.nwebb.co.uk/test/picTest-9.html) and tell me how it works on your computer (and what connection you have, as well as ram and processor).
Thanks,
Mort
