generator is good for somebody who doesn't know any languages, however, it is exspensive and limited.

My advice? learn some languages. You can use JavaScript to dymanically place images on top of a flash movie.

Perl::Flash is really the thing to get into.

There is a library called MING that dynamically converts pictures into swf's. you could then use the loadmovie command to display them.

As far as that pestering domain limitation of the loadVariables command(which I feel was implimented in order to increase generator sales) you can write scripts that reside on your domain that get the data on your domain for your flash to use.

hinkle is right, generator sucks.

a lot of alternatives :
jgenerator : http://www.flashgap.com/
jpg2swf : http://wahlers.de/webcam.html
swiftmp3 : http://www.swift-tools.com/
cgi/txt files for dynamic text/variables
