Poop. I wish Vile could give me that big kiss, but alas he's over in Atlanta and I'm mooching around Devon grumpily. We're still stuck with pulling faces over web cam and IM:

*** Vile/PinK progress update***

We're hoping for an August wedding in the States (that way my parents will be able to attend as my mum is a teacher and can only go away during school holidays, and I will be pretty damn upset if they can't make it) and when I went over to visit Vile for Valentine's day we completed the fiance petition and have now filed the first set of forms with the Texas Service Centre.

These need to be approved before I can even apply for my VISA (yet more forms, interview at the US Embassy, medical and x-ray to follow) to go join Vile, but unfortunately it seems Texas is the slowest centre to apply through at the moment because for no apparent reason they just stopped processing Fiance Petitions for several months. After many protests outside the centre I believe they are processing again, but have a backlog of applications going back to October. Our official filing date was 28th February.

*screams*

Not happy. Somehow August is no longer looking so plausible.

Also, now that these first forms have been filed, apparently I am not allowed to return to the States on the Visa Waiver or Tourist Visa as I'd risk being deported because immigration would assume that I'm intent on getting married and staying illegally. Gah. Why would you file through the proper channels and then go behind BCIS's back?! Makes no sense. Want to see Vile.

So, looks like we are in for a long wait apart and it's driving me crazy.

And Faffy, it's no big secret really. I'm 27 ;) Though I feel at least 40 at the moment cos I just opened a gift from my sister-in-law: wrinkle cream. Hmm, she's so going to die. (But maybe tomorrow because I need my brother to drive me into Plymouth this evening so I can drink ze alkyhol and fall over)

The way I see it, you should not have applied that petition stuff... I think you should wait till the wedding is over and when you guys get settled... That's when you should apply for it... That way, you won't be able to go out of the State till you get the advanced parole stuff, yet you guys can be together... Anyways... I am so sorry to hear that... :( Have vile come over and live there for a while till you guys get to get into the State legally... ;)

:) yep, definitely need a drink. Every time I've gone out lately I've had to drive to get to see my friends (I now live 15 miles away from the nearest city and there is only one bus an hour, bit of a change from Manchester :() and had to stick to orange juice while everyone else got merry. I've wangled some lifts in and back tonight though and I intend to make the most of it! YAY!

Grrr. I now REALLY hate Texas, but I just have to keep reminding myself that although the wait seems long now, if we got married first and then applied for a VISA the processing would apparently take a lot longer and would be far worse to deal with because we'd be married but living in different countries.

At least by applying for a fiance visa first, once we are married in the States I can stay with Bill and the next load of forms and waiting for immigration processing can be done together. *phew*

I also feel really self centred grumping about missing Vile considering what is happening with regards to World affairs at the moment.

Nope, it's my birthday gonna stay selfish - I want my Bill now!

Wedding in Nyarnia - hee. Novel idea! *sigh* I miss that place, Bill asked Red what the problem was and apparently only Jesse has the authority to reboot that now. :(

Yeah, until Christmas. I got made redundant in November (actually it was the day I got back from my first visit to see Vile, I went back into work to find my computer missing from my desk and that I had a meeting with the boss. About 10 other people had lost their jobs while I was in the States and I was the last to know. Grrr) couldn't afford my flat in Didsbury anymore and ended up having to move back into my old bedroom back home with my parents while I regroup.

Hmmm, I would kill for a proper Manchester kebab. The Westcountry has no idea.

Manchester Kebab? Is that an official name? :D Cos I've tried Paris kebab (so so), Lyon Kebab (better), Singapore kebab (not even kebab) and Izmir kebab (AAAWWW!!!), but I've never heard of Manchester kebab.

Its not an official name, but you can't beat a Manchester kebab.

My home town is Birmingham (the home of the Balti - kinda like a curry but made much thicker in a big bowl) and they have kebabs there, but I've haven't found that is the same as we get in the curry mile in Manchester.

Hmm, I suppose I'm still celebrating, it was dinner with the folks today. Chinese takeaway because mum refuses to go to the local restaurant because of some food poisoning scare. Now, they have gone to bed, my bro and I are out of beer because my folks didn't buy nearly enough (now how would want more than two bottles of beer in one night anyway unless they were an alcoholic? *mum turns to look at her two children suspiciously*) and we've missed last orders down the pub. heh, pubs shut at 11pm. *sigh*
And there is only one club in my town, I've only been there once and that was on Christmas Eve when my brother and sister-in-law dragged Vile and I in. Sy had cleverly been the only one to remember any housekeys so we were stuck with trendy pop music and glitterballs until they passed out and needed carrying back up the hill. It's a very scary place and not an experience I would recommend. The sight of my brother monkey dancing is terrifying alone.

For my birthday Vile bought me a new domain name (and quite right too seeing as it's all his fault that kaydownes.com will soon become redundant.) : kaypow.com. Now I just need to get my arse in gear and stick a new website up! eek :D

Pink things : I got a pink cafetiere and a pink mouse with a pink plastic pig floating around inside it, hmm, definitely interesting.

ass.org - not even going there!

*sighs* GMUD is still down for some reason, I miss it terribly, couple of folks I only ever really saw there that I feel like I am losing contact with now :(

I am notorious for forgetting people's birthday, so don't take it personally. Every year I try a new system and every year I miss everyone's birthday. How the hell does on ekeep up on all these dates!

Its my nickname and my tag (graffiti name) - although I don't graffiti anymore.

I think the Blue bit came from the fact mainly that I've got turquiose blue eyes, and probably had something to with the fact I only ever wore blue. And the gel, comes from my initials of first and second name. and thats that then!

Well... Find your old watercolor... Mix 1.5 of Cyan and 1.75 of Blue real well... Add some water and some imagination... Mix is some more with random amount of Blue on top of that... See what you make with that??? That is the color/shade/tone of my favorite sky, the one you see right after the rain is gone... That's why I chose CyanBlue... ;)

I don't really think that most of the people who work with computer are male... I started this computer stuff since 89 and I can say that at least 1/3 are female... I don't really think this computer field are male dominant... Why are number and gender matter anyway??? I'd get 1 clever programmer/designer rather than 10 dumb ones... My 2 cents... ;)

Very instructive thread...

I am back home after a long, exciting (antiwar demonstrations) and tasty (mjam... let's say that's what I miss the most since I moved away :D ) italian weekend, and I learn soooo many new things here:

- pinkaboo's turned 27 (congrats pink, if I remember well 27th was my best year - now that I think of it, 28th was the worst one, but that shouldn't bother you since it's highly unlikely NATO will start bombing UK or US, where you'll probably be next year :D ) and she and vile are having (how surprising... :rolleyes: ) visa paperwork delays (I'll have all my fingers crossed for you two).

- kebab pass-list (when I get the chance to try Manchester kebab, I'll decide how to grade Barcelona one...)

- pom is three-half man and one of them is Slovenian!!! (now it'll turn on that I don't have only a brother here, but a distant countryman too... I take back what I wrongfully suggested some threads ago (http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=22207#post100768)...) BTW pom, have you ever tried some Balkanian "cevap"?

Thanks DiDi. Need all the crossed fingers we can get I think. This week the processing time shot up from 60-90 days to 150-180! Just as I was consoling myself that at least we were a third of the way through the first stage they do this. Texas sucks bigtime.

150-180 days is the estimate, and we aren't supposed to make a fuss or enquire until that period is over. (not going to stop us though!) :(

Thing is, I would be just as miserable, but I could understand if these delays were really as a result of added security but if Vile lived on the East Coast we could have filed via Vermont, and they are still able to process within 45 days!

Apparently once the file actually gets onto the right desk, as long as everything is in order it only takes 15 minutes to adjudicate. It's galling.
