K - so I'm waiting for my new motherboard arrive. Packages start turning up from different couriers. I'm all excited (I love parcels).
I get this BIG BOX. Feels kinda light - best not shake it. I rip it open and......

this is what was inside (http://www.thornbankbastards.com/neils/packaging.jpg)

Heheh. They'd fit in an envelope!!

( re: "what's this?" - Bluegel, I'd know that anywhere. It's a cat. Hmmm, cats are evil ;) )

oh, yeah, never thought of that - the envelope bit.

why are cats evil??

yours looks a bit evil, but mine looks cute (not that I like cats too much anyway)

Ha, ha, ha thats great. :)

I agree with you on the 'parcel front' - so exciting.

Nice set-up btw, looks like you have it pretty sorted !!!!!

That really did make me laugh. It reminds me of the time when i orderd a hub for my LAN, and it came in a huge box, it had loads of big air bags in it to stop it rattling around, cos there was so much room in there.

Keep the box, send it back with a very small piece of paper saying "thanks"

Oh, i see a mug of coffee and an OOP book creeping in there.

Regards, snapple :)

Ha ha, that's a great idea! The guy I ordered it of off is a really nice bloke. I think I'll do that - he'd find it funny

Yeah, I was working from home so I thought might as well get myself sorted :) Couldn't crop the pic cause I've uninstalled everything 'cept flash - hence the big pic size. Got everything except the motherboard now - *sniff* typical!

Why are cats evil? Just look at them with their beady eyes!
Nah don't mind cats really, but I couldn't eat a whole one.

Just ran back to take another look. Sh*t, did I hide the weed? S'okay I hid the weed ;) lol

Hadn't really thought about it, but looking at people's desks is kind of telling, kind of intersting too I guess. Look how many windows I've got open. Typical

Maybe we should have a forum where people just take shots of their workspace and we can analyse their state of mind! Luckily I tidied up yesterday - yes, that's what I call tidy :)

what the fudge do you need a new motherboard for? I thought you had a dual chip 1ghz beastie, isn't that enough for you?? I'm surprised you're bothering with thermal pads, didn't you and Glenn have lots of fun with thermal paste last time???

You still in contact with any of the old bunch? I'm sure Terry would be pleased with me, I actually know some programming languages now.

When I were a lad I had to put up with a 1mhz processor and 12kb of Hard drive memory. We couldn't afford a monitor either, had to imagine what was on the screen. Kids today huh........

I could really do with upgrading my motherboard, processor and graphics card but I'm still a piss poor student who can barely afford to drink copious amounts of beer. I suppose I'll have to think about getting a job one of these days, I tried it once, didn't like it much.

If dread to think what my desktop says about me, course notes all over the place, beer bottles, books and god knows what breeding under the keyboard.

PS Nice curtains

Well I figured my motherboard must be faulty .... cause none of my code seems to work ;)

Turns out I most likely bought from a batch that has a corrosive electrolyte compound or something and I'm now down to a single 512 proc. Both processors are fine* but the actual slot is buggered, and been having all sorts of weird problems. I've been working from home recently so it's not a problem I can just leave.

Yeah you must know loads now - and good on you too :) What have you been learnin?
12kb of Hard drive memory? Luxury! When I were a lad......
I'll pm you about the Dublin bunch.

...and don't dis the drapes!
Good to hear from you squire.

*they're both for sale if anyone's interested
