Can we have this??? This is real useful especially when I know which thread I should take a look when I don't have much time... It'd be real time saver if we could have this too... ;)in the forum view there are envelope icons which show either new thread, old thread and hot topics and hot topics new thread... the key at the bottom of the forum. With most other forums, theres a dot in any one of those icons which shows that you have posted in that thread. Depending on the icon set its usually either (like flashkit) a black dot in the center or (like in kirupa's) a yellow dot on the right side of the envelope. AS.org has none :o So I cant tell what threads Ive posted answers in case someone has responded and, you know, had problems or more questions or whatever. Its fine if you were the last who posted because then you see your name. Its ok if you yourself started the thread because you see your name, but if you're an answer guy like me, and there are 20 new threads in the forum, I have no Idea (because my memory isnt THAT good ;)) which threads I answered and which have replied back.

Now you can hit the replies column link, but thats a pain. Id rather just be able to look at the icon and tell if it was a thread I posted in or not. Then I can quickly and easily answer follow ups without having to go through all the threads.

I agree that would be useful, CyanBlue, but not a necessity.:)

Ahh does sound good but I have no idea how we'd do it. I'll ask Strok if he knows.

do people like those?

I left them out of the skin I just created for flashkit (so now flashkit can be viewed without needing sunglasses ;)) because there are so many different icons on that board and I was too lazy to edit them all ;) but if they're popular I might have to add some dots back in... :)

CyanBlue

Hm... If it was just matter of adding dots in the folder, I don't think it is that hard to do it... lol... Thank you, catbert303... ;)

from senocular no?

I like the system of as: looking in the user cp...
;)

CyanBlue
03-27-2003, 09:57 AM
Yes xxlm... You can see who has replied to your subscribed thread by going over the User CP... But the idea is to see the same thing on the forum index list... It will save you another browser screen... I have to open the Subscribed thread list on the left and open that corresponding thread on the right to make sure I get to see all the changes... Oh, well... Basically it could be the same thing, however, with an additional dot on the main forum index list, you get to see the changes... As long as it doesn't cost big man power, why not??? ;)

Yeah... ok

But ME what I want is an auto-refresh (every min??) for the usercp...
;)

Well we've looked into it and honestly I have no idea how it's done. It doesn't seem to be a feature in the admin. If someone can find out how it's done, I'll set it up...

Hey Jesse,
To enable the 'dot' icon next to threads a member posted in, go to your vBulletin Control Panel. Click the vBulletin Options link on the left. From there, click the Forum Display Options link - you will be zipped to the Forum Display Options section. Look down a few lines and find the text that says "Use 'dot' icons". Ensure that the option to its left is set to "Yes". I think that should enable the dot icons for the entire forum.

It is quite strange, because until CyanBlue PMed me, I never knew the actual reason for the existence of the dot next to many of the folders :) Likewise, I had no idea I had enabled that option hehe.

Cyanblue also messaged me saying that you were wondering how to change the color of all hyperlinks posted in the forums. The option for this is hidden (just like most of vB's cool features!) in the never-used Styles section. In your VB Control Panel, scroll down the page in the left navigation frame until you see the sub-section marked Styles. From there, click the Modify button. Select fonts/colors/etc. from the links that load on the right.

On the Jump To links on the fonts/colors/etc page that loads, click the main colors link. The third row from the bottom of the Main Colors table contains the hexadecimal value you would use for your link color. Enter any color in hexadecimal form to have the link color change to the new color you just entered :)

If you have any further VB questions, don't hesitate to ask me!

Cheers!
Kirupa :)

kirupa, thanks a plenty. I searched the options when this post first came up but couldn't find the dot thingo. It's active now. Enjoy all.

With regard to the links, that's where I made the change last time, but again it makes all links change color, not just userdefined links and it stuffs up the look and feel of the rest of the links on the page... The problem remains :)

Thx again
