flash MC within flash

first of all.. great forum.
Here's my dilemma:

I have an all flash website, (as opposed to a flash site embedded within html) and for my portfolio page, I would like movies that I've made pop up within my original flash movie. I would like to set the x and y properties and target the movie in a specific area. I've tried using layers, but dont know how to specify size and area.

Hi and welcome...
Your best bet would be to load your external movies into empty movie clips then position those MC's as desired:

on (release) {
loadMovie ("myMovie.swf", "_root.targetMc");
_root.targetMc._x=300;
_root.targetMc._y=400;
}

Select 'target' on the load movie panel.
The last two lines of code position your movie, there not really needed as you can position the 'targetMc' manually beforehand.
Copy & Paste the above code directly into the actions panel to see how it works.
