flickering text field

I have created a text field, but when I do a preview, its flickering. I tried to change it to another type (from input to static), but to no avail. Any idea what causes this annoying behavior?

it seems that the 'selectable' option causes this problem. turning this off fixed my problem. is that a known issue?
