setting character spacing

Hey All,
Another seemingly basic question-
Is there a way to set the character spacing property for a dynamic textfield?

The option is availble for static text, but I'm creating dynamic textfields and I don't know the synatx (if there is one) when using an exported font.

It's pity that we cannot control it with the ActionScript along with some other paragraph settings that we can touch up for the text field... :(
