Attaching sound to an if/then..?

It seems like this would be so simple but I can't figure it out.
What is the actionscript code that makes a sound play?

For example, when my hitTest returns true, I want to make the sound "sound.wav" play.

do a search for 'sound', look thru the tutorials, check thru the movie section...

probably be faster than waiting for a response.
