I tried exporting movie with an image in the library and with the image on the stage.
The first is only a few kb and the latter is larger.
How come?
Another question.
How can an image of lets say 100kb fit in a swf file at 30kb without loosing a lot of quality?
Flash compresses image files. PNG's compress very well. By default it brings the quality down to about 80%. In publish settings, you can change this.
Items in the library that arent used on the stage, or exported for actionscript arent compiled in the published SWF. They are, ignored. Thats why you have the file size difference.

ah yes, I have to export them for actionscript to use them. If so, the file size should be the same whether they are in the library or on stage.
Yes, they should be very close, maybe 8-16KB difference.
