If you look at most (if not all) "flash animated" templates on Templatemonster.com (http://www.templatemonster.com), you will notice little highlights running along edges of bitmap images. I presume it is a vectorized shape, alpha to 50% or something.

But I was wondering how you make it run along the edges with great precision as it does on these templates?

Look at this example here. (http://www.templatemonster.com/show.php?templ=2296&cat_type=cat&type=0&arg1=53&arg2=&order=date) The effect is really nice. And I would like to learn how this is done.

Thanks for the help.

It's fairly simple. Just a gradient tweened beneath a mask.

Thanks for your answer. I looked at your example with great interest. But somehow, I do not know why, I have not found a simple way to make this little highlight run along complex shapes.

What would be the step by step process? For instance, I have an amplifier tube here, a .jpg. I would like to highlight the vertical line inside the tube, the highlight as well as the contour and some elements inside. I would have a blinking effect as well as a reflection effect. Hummm...

Thanks (Still working on this)

Have you read the path tutorial that comes with the Flash help files? They have a pretty good step by step tutorial in there about animating an object along a path. Try searching your hard drive for a file called "10_animate13.html" or look through the index of the flash help files and click on Paths; Tweening Along.
