View Full Version : Identifying a User

Hi folks
I am converting to Flash 10 and actionScript from Director & Lingo.

I am redesigning a Director Shock movie into an SWF.

Users can upload images to my server for future use. I need to be able to identify the user to reload them at a later date. In lingo this is accomplished using setPrefs() and getPrefs()

How can I leave a user number on the users drive and read it when required?

In other words - How can an SWF record the situation of a game, so the user can continue from the same position when they come back at a later date?

Any comments will be very helpful.

Flash can't do that, but you can communicate with a backend script (php, asp, whatever you use) to leave a cookie. This isn't secure or reliable, and a login would be a better method. This info can be passed to the SWF via flashvars.
