traced vector animations

Was wondering if anyone knew what tools people are using to generate the traced human vector animations like the skate boarder shown
(this site has been mentioned quite a bit on the forum)here (http://www.geneticshoes.com/geneticSite.html)

Can it be done with a just a digital camera? If anyone out there has done this type of work and has any tips, it would be appreciated.

I've never used it, but I heard that it was Adobe After Effects.

I suppose you could trace bitmap every frame...:p

thanks for the response. I just found this tut at flashkit which confirms you comment on After Effects

...but I don't have that program or the proper video equipment so my only option would be trace bitmap every frame...ugly
