Use a Screen Recorder (Camtasia, ZD Soft) to record the Flash while playing it, OR use Sothink SWF to Video Converter, an excellent software, designed specifically to convert SWFs to AVI with high quality and almost lag-free, sadly, none of those softwares are free :(

Hi,
If you want free, why don't you start messing with Linux Ubuntu, even tho there is a learning curve, you can do all and more, of what windows allows you to do.

Just a suggestion.

Hello, Ritchievalens.

It's all good to introduce alternative methods, but it'd be great if you can be abit more specific. If Ubuntu has this feature built-in or if there is any software that you can run to achieve this, you could at least mention the name of it so that other people can actually benefit from it. Otherwise, your comment doesn't really do any good to achieve the goal. ;)

Hey CyanBlue,

Sorry about that, I wanted to point windfly in the right direction for free software available.

Ok here goes,

1.Look for WinFF which you can use alongside ffmpeg for Windows from WinFF dot ORG ( By far the Best FREE app ) Works for Ubuntu as well.

2. The next one is Free www .swftoaviconverter . net, again you get a watermark.

3. You can Get www . videoconverterfactory . com free-swf-video-converter
This one is crippleware, but it will convert, and the functions you need will work.

4. Also you could try SWF2AVI by pizzinini dot net. This one is freeware, and if there are any updates in flash this will be updatable by
downloading the latest IE Plugin.

5. Lumixsoft do a Free SWF to AVI MPEG Convert programme v 1.2 which is Free.

6. You can get Free trial of Download Moyea SWF to Video Converter Pro
This one leaves a watermark on your output files, but never expires the programme

This is at SWF Kits dot com

Also I have converted using Adobe Premier, from .AVI to .SWF, but I am not sure 100%, if you can do the reverse, I will look if you need to know.

Ubuntu

With Ubuntu, you have to have ubuntu installed, but thats ok, you can create a simple partition, or get the copy you can install to a USB stick.

Or Failing that Get a copy of VMware 30 day Free, which is basically an Emulator that allows you to run different O'S's in a shell. ( Ontop of windows )

You can get ffmpeg, and the way to get it to run it

To install it, go and open a console ( Equivalent to Command prompt )

Then You need to type:

# sudo apt-get install ffmpeg

then, in the same console, find the directory you just installed it in:

Then Type

# ffmpeg -i inputname.flv outputname.swf

I hope this helps a bit, if you need more advice let me know.

Thank you for providing the details.

So, in other words, you basically are recommending the ffmpeg and a couple more additionals. I believe ffmpeg right now is pretty much OS neutral where you can just download the binary and run on any OS. Not that there is anything wrong with it but it does not sounds like a great argument to convert to Ubuntu if you ask me. Just my 2 cents. ;)

CyanBlue,

I would suggest for simplicity, at the moment just use X-WinFF_1.3.2_rev4.zip

I have used it earlier, with a .SWF file and converted it to an .AVI File, and the video was error Free.

It converted a 12 Meg File to 24 megs, with all the stereo information, as good as the original.

Goto " http : // tinyurl . com / 63rhsm4 " To convert to URL remove quotes and Spaces.

You either have to like Ubuntu and Linux or not. I am tied to windows, but I Love Linux, as its so much more efficient, than windows, and it lets you drive off the main road so to speak.

The Open source side of things is great, so if you get problems, there will be a 99.9% chance the problem is fixed already.

And its Free, I can go on.
