hello everyone,

so i have just been handed a project in which i have been instructed to pan large images (720 x 469) left to right, up and down, and in and out to a voice over soundtrack. i have searched the forums for info on how to best acheive this effect, but still i cannot seem to get a smooth tween. i have tripled my frame rate to 36 which has helped a little, but still things are chunking along. i am using good old fasion motion tweens as i am pretty green on scripting such things. i was given this http://www.becominghuman.org (click "The Documentry" in the left side menu) as an example of the desired effect. are they doing something revolutionary here with there panning etc... or is there frame rate just bumped up an insane amount. i should add my left to right pans look alright, it's the panning in and out thats killing me here.

thanks for your time, jevans.

p.s. just returned form cuba two weeks ago, if anyone is interested in having a look at some of my better images check this out http://www.jevansmedia.com/pages/plate.htm

if you have the resources, you might want to consider this as a quick solution.

zoomify software (http://zoomify.com)

i don't have any experience with it so don't have any inside info on how effective it is. it was discussed recently on this thread
zoom thread (http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?s=&threadid=26698)

check out my site under "art" and you can see a different effect that might be what you are looking for.

hey thanks skee,

that's a cool program. i downloaded the trial version and had a look but it's not quite what i'm looking for. this photo tour i'm putting together has nine minutes of voice over split up into 2 min chunks, i dont think it will work out, not to mention my supervisor is not likely to lay down the cash to buy it.

thanks again.

sounds like a pretty intense project. try doing a search for scaling with scripting. i have found that scripting the motion of image files tends to be smoother than tweening.
