Can anyone please show me how to do the text effect in www.typographic.com

The blurred letters and the light effects look like imported graphics. Probably made in After Effects or similar program. Some of the crisp letters are Flash. very nicely done.

is it possible to do it in flash?

Not with the same amount of blur,(in my opinion). In Flash you can blur text if you Modify>BreakApart and use Modify>Shape>SoftenEdges but I would recommend doing it in PhotoShop and import the image to Flash (blurred jpg's take very little kb).
