Hi,

I am trying to re-create a graphic that slowly digitizes(pixelates) more & more.
I will need to apply the effect more & more until it really is so digitized that you won't be able to make out what the graphic was to begin with.

I would like to save each as I go along so I can import to Flash as .pngs or .gifs so it will be animated. There will be 30 different frames involved in this process.

I am wondering if anyone knows what filter, in P-shop, should I use to re-create this effect with ease?

thnx!

michelle

Don't you just reduce the resolution of a bitmap untill you can see the individual pixels. Then do the same to the original at different resolutions? You can always resize them and save them as jpg or whatever, but just reduce the resolution should do the job.

I think that effect is under Filter > Pixelate. Try all the effects.

I only found one way to do it to zoom the image in photoshop and then press print to screen key and paste the new image into a new file. Iam sure there is a better way but thats the only way i know, there are no filters that come with Photshop that create this effect.

A mosaic filter should do the trick. You should be able to set the level of mosaic in a selected area in Photoshop.

But my original suggestion although long winded would have worked also, and the idea works in other packages that might not have this filter so it was not such a bad suggestion, after all that is all the filter probably does! Why does External remind me of the question when my answer was valid solution to the problem just because it is not an answer in the way the problem was formulated/ discribed? Also my answer probably gives bredhead a better understanding of what he is actually doing which is just reducing the resolution.

ie

reduce resolution;

Alt+I,Alt+I,Alt+W,Ctrl+C, Alt+R "10" OK

increase resolution;

Alt+I,Alt+I,Alt+W,Ctrl+V, resample Image change to nearest neighbour OK

Hi JLM,

Yep... your way will definitely work... and a hello and thumbs up to you. I genuinely don't think anyone was trying to say that your way wasn't valid :)

Most definitely is.

Bye for now.

Hi!

Yup, it was the mosaic filter in P-Shop! Precisely what I had in mind!!!

Note to anyone else...you just keep duplicating your layer, continuously applying the filter more & more!

lots 'o' luv,
