mute sounds

I made an intro movie for our web site
but need to make a mute button so you can kill the sound effects.
right now it has the main name zooming in by letter with a separate layer for sound
I use a button with the stop all sounds action it kill the sound. but when the playhead hits the next keyframe the Sound resumes. does anyone know how to kill the sounds?
and let the whole movie still play

Hi..
If your sounds are resuming at a particular keyframe then try organising your movie so this doesn't happen.
You could place your sound in an MC, then place this MC in it's own layer.

Well I tried that but to no avail.
the clip played great!
and the button to mute the sound works on the first sound
but the second sound still plays
anyone want me to mail this to them?

Hi..
The 'stopAllSounds' action will stop all sounds playing at that point, if further on there are keyframes with actions that invoke your sounds then these sounds will immediately play again.
There is no action that mutes the entire movie, sounds can always be restarted if called upon.
