Instead of just adding more stuff to the site... take off some of those animal pictures and replace them with somthing that has pazazz in it... just use your imagination. or you can make a cool looking interfave instead of just the free buttons at the top... its realy up to you... since its a webdesign site you should have to problam designing your own site.

thanks for your replies, i will make some changes and change the front image.
cheers
what your best bet is, go through the site check forum, check out peoples sites and ideas, then come up with your own, the web is there and great ideas can be found, it will get the creative juices flowin,

Don't really like the layout...try making the buttons on the top smaller and beveled so that they look 3d before the mouse over.

ok, i was thinking of removing all of the flash content and starting again, maybe with different flash buttons, or some Dhtml with Javascript. Thanks for the comments there all helping me. Can you have a look at
http://www.capital-commercial.co.uk and give me your opinions on that, it is a site I designed for my dads business. What do you think? Be Harsh! I need honest opinions.

first of all these are just opinions so kill me on it!
try to put the buttons in a separate frame so the wont scroll with the rest, edit the buttons , more space between them!
choose 1 text style and 1 text color , it's a little unorganized: left/center/right: what's up with that?
try to make that picture at the top to be more like the rest of the site, maybe larger so it wont stand alone.
the space between the text are sometimes a little big, people don't like to scroll !!!!
for the rest : try to look at some sites with the same subject !
some sites i helped creating are:
www.creditbroker.com
oops..the other one has been deleted from the server
some heads are gonna roll tommorrow!
ill send it asap
greetz and good luck with your sites !
ABBEX :)
once again these are just opinions, accept them as you like
btw: are a real designer or not ?

Thanks for your suggestions, I think I agree with your idea on using frames so the buttons stay put when people scroll, I like that idea and wish I had thought of it!! :-)
I am a freelance web designer, and working with two companies right now on their sites. As I am new to this game, I ned as much advice as possible so I can get things right, so thankyou everyone and keep those comments coming in!!

Some updates have been made, the rest done by 23:00 GMT Today, what do you think (of http://www.scits.co.uk & http://www.capital-commercial.co.uk). Need more feedback and suggestions. If you want opinions of your site reply or mail me, I'm more than happy to offer creative suggestions.
well my first suggestion, is to put a white background, my desktop is set with grey backgrounds in windows, so i see white blocks,
stefanw
06-08-2001, 04:59 PM
What do you mean "white blocks"? and for which site, scits or capital??
scits is a white background, but capital commercial is light blue. this is because its sister site
http://www.capital-brokers.net is also light blue (this site is all flash)
comments are appreciated, keep them coming
for scits. if you dont specifically state that the page will have a white background, the user can change their window background color, and that will make the page their specified color leaving it messy, place a bgcolor="#ffffff" tag within the body tag, this way, it doesnt matter what color they choose,
also , i feel your nav buttons at the top are too big, you can make that smaller and still have the same effect, no need to overload the page with nav, know what i mean,
one more thing, as far as your nav and your main image is concerned, center justify them so they look like they work together, right now it just looks like they were thrown on a page, put them in a table with two rows one cell each, and then place align="center" in each tr tag

I have updated http://www.capital-commercial.co.uk. The text is more flowing and has a standard throughout. Can people check the Feedback form please (please mark as a test)and give me as much feedback as possible.
THOR, thankyou for your comments, I will make amendments along what you have said as I agree with you. I will also add the html code so it will be white when opened.
Thanks, and keep them coming.!!!

A lot of updates have been made to http://www.scits.co.uk
I am currently working on a security page which will advise people on web security and server security.
I have included a feedback form with a confirmation page and a internal search engine (very effective) I am justa bit worried about the reliabiliy of my web host, Easyspace.
Does anyone know anything about Easyspace ?? any advice on them would be really helpful, as sometimes my site appears slowly and doesnt function correctly, but if I wait 5 minutes and go back to it, everything is fine!
Any ideas on that and Easyspace, please reply with any info youve got

Honestly... Too large. It seems like one of those themes for the visualy handicaped...
And the Degradeé on the left side, baby blue, :( , loose it.
Not everybody on the net is using 3000x2000 30'' monitors, you know.
Oh, and don't explain what the WWW is. They're already there if they're looking for a Web Design company... :D
stefanw

The site has been designed using 1024 X 768 layout and also works with with 800 X 600. These are the most popular monitor resolutions which is why they have been chosen. If you cannot afford a half decent monitor, or u are too blind to see at a DECENT resolution, dont complain, thats not my fault.

I viewed it at the office at 800*600, 15" monitor (Syncmaster, pretty decent...) at it's all f**ked up.
Then I got home, and on my half decent Syncmaster 17", I understood it: you should take a couple of steps back and enjoy the site from the other side of the room.
I'm happy that I have a decent wireless mouse!
Oh, and next time you get criticized over something, however harsh it may be, think about what is said. Big graphics usually are placed there because there isn't much more to place... get it? :D

So is it too big or too small ? No one else has mentioned this.
I chose an image originally as I wanted a very neat front page that will entice people to enter and have a look.
If you read back through this page, especially at thor and abbex's comments you will see the also mentioned my front page and the nav buttons which are being worked on now and will be ready soon. I need new, original comments or critisicm, not repetive complaining.
I value your comments, but i need some more details about how it appears for you before I can go about fixing it.
There is plenty to go on the site, but I am also working on another site right now http://www.USAinUK.com and this is taking up most of my time.
At the end of the day, my site is working as I am making money, your comments can only improve that for me.

Hi Melbeast,
I think you should elaborate on your comments. Tell the person why you think so, so that it doesn't come off as negative. We should be giving constructive criticism not negative ones. :)
Peace.

Everyone,
Thankyou for all of your comments, I now have some great news.
http://www.scits.co.uk has been brought and will, for the foreseeable future, be advertising a model. Her name is Louise Triptree from Bournemouth in the UK. I will be aiding in the sites design, and lots and lots of pictures will be on this site showing off her lovely curves, with all sorts of pictures. Photos will include, sexy styled and creative clothes, topless and naked.
Please come back after the 24.07.01 and enjoy this new site. It is going to be a winner.
Also in the mean time, my web design deign site is going to be destroyed and redone, thankyou for all your opinions, they will be used and in a month or so, my site will re suface with a brand new face.
Enjoy Louise everyone!
