Hiya, this is my new site - html and flash builds - mostly finished now so comments very much appreciated (be brutal) - would especially appreciate comments on problems with pluginchecker and also problems with flash text not rendering very well, especially on messagboard on flash..
thanks very much,
mike

I like the opening, it is interesting. The countdown is pretty good as it gives the user a better sense of when to expect it. The drawing of the website is a little prolonged, as I expected to be able to navigate when the countdown was complete or very soon after. Why do you put down your own work 'Half Decent WebDesign'? I'd strike that out and put something that suggests work superior to your competition. Like 'Damn I'm Too Good'..just kidding.
Also I would move either services or portfolio down to the last line of links. It helps spread it all out and make it look more uniform.

And I noticed that you have a contact button on the html version, but it does not appear on the flash version. I'm using Safari on OSX with flash6.

much appreciated guys - on the flash build I substituted the contact section for the messageboard thats why, as you guys suggested, the last line is empty and somewhat un symmetrical, it was due to be the contact section going in - hadnt really thought that it matters too much but now you mention it........
time taken to naviagte is an issue I know - its designed to remain active on slow connections (you know how the UK is for bandwidth!!!) - maybe think about that -
thanks very much for the feedback -
mike
ps - which little cubes - the grey boxes or the little orange square? im sick of those too!

mistermikeb,
i noticed a few things. the alignment of the swf in the html doc seems a bit off center. might look better dead centered. also, what frame rate are you publishing the swf at? it might look tighter (the motion) if you speed it up a bit. just a few thought. other than that, looks good.

thanks, they are good points.....might wll lok at pushing up the frame rate - at what point point does your average player struggle - ie, do you think I could go to 15-16 fps..
thanks alot,
mike:)
mistermikeb,
try between 20-30 fps. I have found that things will start to lag on most computers above 30 fps (which depends on the motion). But, I think with the transitions you have, I would try 30 fps.
