Does anyone know of a good tutorial that explains how to load questions in the e-learning components from a database using asp?

Howdy... ;)

I have some interest in that e-Learning stuff, and I was wondering if there is any sort of e-Learning component available out ther, flashdudette??? :)

Hello Cyan Blue - You've help me before and I wish I could give you a great answer but the only e-learning components I know of are the Macromedia ones that come with MX except one that you can have (with a subscription at eyeland.com). I have not seen any others anywhere. Otherwise there are good quiz samples around but they are not components. Moock for example has a great quiz sample.

The Macromedia components are good in some ways but as usual the doc is scant! There is absolutely no info about connecting to a database, loading the questions externally... except that it can be done! Thanks a lot!!! And for a medium coder like me it means lots of time vasted to figure out things on my own. Macromedia has got to become a better supporter of its products.

Oh... I see... Thanks for sharing that... ;)

I was helping another guy last time on this thread...
http://www.actionscript.org/forums/showthread.php3?s=&postid=138469#post138469
and this is the outcome of the that thread...
http://www.cfhosting.it/CyanBlue/Tests/Quiz/sample.html

I know this one is pretty crude and basic, but that's the one that gave me some ideas on the quiz related components or such...
I was thinking maybe I'd make some myself, but I wasn't able to find any other examples except the Macromedia one... That's why I have asked... Thanks... :)

You're a lot smarter than me. I'm just an ex-homeschooling mom turned into a Flash-Designer-hoping-to-be-developper gal!

So far, I can write some simple code, and, pardon me, read and tweak other peoples' code to fit my needs.

Anyway, I work with a database woman that does the querrying for the e-learning I am doing. We are using ASP and MSAccess. I handle all the Flash side.

I have tried the macromedia e-learning components but we do not have an LMS and the macromedia doc is almost zero anyway. No forum has ever given me an answer as to how to load questions into the components from a database. Is there someone out there that knows and could tell me?

In the mean time we are making our own quizzes and so far we can load questions and send answers back to the server. I need to make things more diverse like being able to get several right answers for the same question and I guess I should write templates questions to have a variety of types of questions like multiple choice, true/false, etc... I'd like to be able to load pictures with some questions too. So, I am going one step at a time. Samples are really helping me out since I can see how people approach the same problems and then write my own version gleaning inspiration from here and there. The birth of online forums was a great thing for all of us. Now the whole world can help us figure out things. That's great and I value your input, always.

BTW did you check the component at eyeland.com. Scott Baley is a pretty smart guy - maybe he can help you out - He is only 23 years old and know millions more than me who is twice his age. Makes me cry!

Yeah... I can see that how bright he is... :) That makes me cry as well... :( I see how he's done the quiz stuff... and I have some more idea on how to do things if I ever do it... That quiz stuff is just in my project list that I might do when I have free time and when I don't feel like to do anything... (I am jobless of course...) I'll download the file and see how he's made the quiz... The thing is that there are too many kinds of quizzes, so I am abit hesitant to start... Thanks for the good information... :)

When you done with your, don't forget to tell me so that I can see it... If I ever make one, I'll do the same... :)
